About this listen

It’s a dark day for the earth realms. Will it be the last?

Sorcerer Nate Garrett lost much in the battle that devastated Asgard, but the war against darkness is far from over. He’s spent a year searching for Arthur, hell-bent on stopping the evil leader of Avalon and rescuing his friend Tommy from his clutches. Nate’s investigation brings him to Washington, DC, where he finds the city under siege. Just when all hope seems lost, Layla Cassidy and her team arrive to join the fight, but Avalon’s deadly plan to conquer the earth realm is underway.

Meanwhile, Mordred is on a quest to find allies in the upcoming war against Avalon, hoping to find Arthur and stop him before it’s too late.

As the rebellion forces close in on Arthur, each of them know this could be their last fight. But with Arthur massing an unstoppable army of his own, will Nate’s fury be enough to defeat him once and for all?

A great trilogy

An unusual mash up of multiple mythical lores and a ultimate story of Good vs Evil. Nathan Garrett is the star as “Death” and together with dozens of other heroes, heroines, villains and super-villains (king Arthur & Merlin to name a couple,) the battle is for the control or freedom of the worlds. Earth, Avalon, Atlantis, and many other realms experience the battles and bloodshed of world s war. Even the games Sword Excalibur plays an important role. Enjoy it on kindle unlimited via audio/book/or both.

A great ending!

A really satisfying end to an epic story. I am already reading the new novels and looking forward to more stories from Steve McHugh. Also kudos to Steve West, Simon Mattacks, and Moira Quirk. I missed Elizabeth Knoweldon, but Moira is always fun to listen to!

Another binged series

Between the world building, the rich characters, and the pacing, this is the second series of McHugh's that's kept me up at night. His mixing of folklore (Nordic, Greek, Native American, and more!) and fantasy is seamless. These are intelligent and dynamic Audibles. And the narration, again, top-notch.

It ends a little abruptly

I was very excited for this book. I decided to go back and re-read the whole series before I read this installment and I am so glad I did. It really confirmed for me that this is one of my favorite UF series. It's always a fun surprise when you like something the second time around as much as you did the first time and that is not always the case. I recently re-read another series because a new book came out almost 6 years after the "finale" and discovered I absolutely hate the main character - lol! It seems I didn't realize how annoying she was the first time through.

My only complaint about this final installment was that it ended kind of abruptly. I honestly think there needs to be a Mordred trilogy to wrap this series up but it is ok if there isn't one. This ending was satisfying in it's own way and that's not always the case with series' either (think Iron Druid). Anyway, read and enjoy! Well done Steve McHugh!

As always this series has had great narrators and this book was more of the same!

Just buy it

Awesome book by a great author. If you’ve read the other books , you know how good Steve McHugh is. Trust me, buy the book and enjoy listening to it. Of course , it’s even better with a glass of single malt scotch or whiskey.
