About this listen

The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.

In his pursuit of power, Joe fights alongside his team, completes quests, and delves into the mysteries of his class, which he quickly discovers can be practiced only in secret. Ultimately, his goal is to complete every mission, master every ability, and learn all of the world's secrets. All he has to do is survive long enough to make that happen.

LitRPG means Literary Role Playing Game. Simply put, it’s the book version of watching someone play a video game, usually one that’s set up like an MMO (massively multiplayer online) RPG. It’s a blend of sci-fi and fantasy, depending on how it comes to be that our main character ends up living inside a virtual reality. the point of LitRPG is not how we get there, but that we get to be in this virtual reality period, living life as a badass video-game character. Excellent Book and Start of a New Series

The book is excellent. I enjoyed his other series (hopefully more to come!) and I am always leery to move laterally in an author's works in case they are a one-trick pony. But rest assured, if you liked the Divine Dungeon, you'll enjoy this one, too. If you like any litRPG, you'll like this one. If you've never read any litRPG, there's still a good chance you'd find this enjoyable; it'd be an excellent soft intro to the genre.

(Dakota Krout is starting to focus on his writing full-time, so here's hoping he can start cranking out books even faster! I mean, it's not like he's a certain authoR.R. who takes forever to write a new book, but when the books are as great and enjoyable as his are, loyal fans - like me - don't want to wait any longer than we must! Start listening to - or reading - Krout now and say you knew him back when!)

Excellent!

I loved the book. I was a little reluctant at first because I was not sure how I would like the MC and his abilities. I really like how they delve into the professions and how they interact. It makes everything believable. I just wish there was a game like this I could play.

The Most captivating book I’ve read/ heard in a long time

The author did an exceptional job bringing to life all aspects of fiction. This is by far the best, well rounded book I’ve read/ listened to in quite a while. It is a very captivating, thrilling world that makes you feel like your in the book.

If you like fiction, magic, adventure, suspenseful story lines I highly recommend this book for you.

a good book on a video game based reality.

by the cover you may think this is a book about some dark sacrificial magic and a man using dark powers. that is not the case though. a ritual is just magic any one can do as long as they have the mana to do it. the book is about a man that permanently enters into this virtual reality game controlled by a super AI with other real life players. he is the first of his character class and is under the watch of the hidden god. this book is basically about his first levels 1 through 9 and his troubles and discoveries as a ritualist. he finds secret knolege forgotten to help restore the hidden god, and from the ending of the book, may take over the way magic and the world is shaped... It's a good book. kept me engaged the entire time. doesn't give to many details and gets strait to the point.

AMMMMMAZZZING

Ok this book was amazing. No lies about it this at all. I have been listening to a lot of LITRPG recently, its currently the thing I am into. The narrator has a great voice, makes things unique for each character and gives more than enough for you to get invested. The story itself I found to be unique. Most LITRPG's I have read has the character building a mage/warrior combo and I recently found myself wishing for one that went purely magic. While the character was not a mage, he was not a warrior so this fulfilled this desire for me quite nicely. It was very well written and I loved it when the notifications started becoming snarky. Maybe cause I am a sarcastic person myself but I throughly enjoyed that. I can't wait for book two. If you are on the edge about this book, get it. You won't regret it for a second.

Awesome!

This is everything I could want from a litRPG book: great story, humor, mysterious underlying theme, main character with both strong and weak attributes, with potential of huge things to come, and especially no swearing.

I have been disappointed by several series that I start where the first book has no swearing, then the second book starts dropping f-bombs. I love the fact that the author actually addresses swearing, and why the main character doesn't do it. Thank you Dakota Krout!

Good Book Funky Start

I listened to the promo several times and always passed on it as the Elon Musk part always made me hesitate on purchasing it. I finally pulled the trigger and it was well worth it. Good book good story great author and good performance by Vikas Adam. I would strongly recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy books and or lit rpg's.
