Publisher's summary

A mysterious kidnapping kicks off "a roller-coaster ride of adrenaline-inducing plot twists" in this thriller by the New York Times best-selling author (Publishers Weekly, starred review).

With his elite team of agents at Security Solutions, hostage rescue expert Jonathan Grave goes where the government can't. Now he's been called in to locate two teenage boys who have been kidnapped from a residential high school in Virginia. But tracking them down is just the beginning.

To keep them and his covert team alive, Grave plunges into the heart of an ugly secret whose insidious path reaches from one of the world's most remote places into the highest corridors of power. And he must defeat enemies who are willing to kill to keep the truth from being revealed.

Liked The Action

I'm an action junky so this one appealed to my desire for a fast paced storyline. Not too much background here. More of a saddle up and let's go!

Hooray for the good guys

Thus was a great story but had sections difficult to hear. I detest anyone hurting children but thank the Lord for people like Digger and Boxer. The narrator was wonderful as always. Going to start book #3.

Action from page 1!

John Gilstrap has become one of my favorite writers. The books about Victoria Emerson are even better than the ones about Jonathan Graves.

I've read quite a few in this series but missed this second book.

This book was hard to put down! There was action from the first page! I listened to this book. Many of the books are free if you have Audible or Kindle unlimited.

Audible Quality

I really enjoyed the book. This is the second book in the series and plan on listening to the rest of the series. The audible quality was the worst I have ever heard from Audible. I have tried listening to it on my IPod, IPhone, and on through my trucks radio. About 10 - 12 times the volume went down to a whisper for about 30 to 45 seconds at a time. Most of the time it was at a good part of the book. I have about 120 books in my Audible library and this is the first book that this has happened to but it was very annoying. I hope this doesn’t happen again.

Details

Action-packed and good storyline.

It is just terribly frustrating when they get the jargon so wrong. In fact is actually insulting to some service members.

Navy Enlisted Medical Personnel = CORPSMAN pronounced “core-man/men”. NOT corpse-man. They are NOT referred to as medics by anyone. Corpsmen that serve with Marines are often referred to as “docs”.

Corpsmen do receive specialized training when attached to a Marine Corps unit. And for East Coast that is at Camp Lejeune. So that was accurate.

Corpsmen and other Navy personnel who serve with the USMC are NEVER referred to as jarheads. That is an anathema. Only those who have stepped on those yellow footprints can claim that moniker.

Ooh-rah is the slogan for the Marine Corps - not the Navy. It may be used in situ with Marines and their families or about a Marine.

This review may seem nit-picky and trivial but Marines do not take misuse of their traditions lightly.

Bleeding hearts for violent felons

spare me the sob story about registered sx offenders and their “second chances.” No one believes the children but everyone bends over backwards for felons.
