About this listen

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she's going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that's no easy feat when she has no idea who to trust.

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he's in the Asteri's dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce's fate. He's desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri's leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

In this sexy, breathtaking sequel to the #1 bestsellers House of Earth and Blood and House of Sky and Breath, Sarah J. Maas's Crescent City series reaches new heights as Bryce and Hunt's world is brought to the brink of collapse—with its future resting on their shoulders.

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

I consumed this entire series so far and I desperately need the second half of this version of the book. yes I know I could get the regular version, but I want the graphic audio variety. always top notch performances

Fantastic Production - Pace is Slowing

The only criticism I have - which shouldn’t be taken as a reason to not listen to audiobook - is plot and pacing. Too many subplots and characters with new, but as of yet unconnected elements, are tossed into the story. It becomes burdensome trying to mentally recall, sort through, tie together, and draw conclusions from scattered bits of unconnected information when presented this way. When this happens, I eventually stop and search for a reference chart of characters, locations, and details on the internet to help make following the story easier.

This goes from simply being a challenge to a bit frustrating when in spite of my efforts to keep up, the author moves forward with an expectation that something revealed in a scene has completed a puzzle and sparked an “Aha!” moment in the mind of the reader/listener, but in fact there are still loose pieces scattered about - some upside down (forgotten) and needing to be flipped over to recall the details and get a clear picture.

Colleen Delany is my inner Voice

Don’t skip the credits because you’ll learn that Colleen Delany is not only an incredible narrator, but is listed as a producer of this series. (As well as many other titles)
I’m continually impressed with the quality of production and the voice talent that this company is bringing to the business of audiobooks, especially when it involves rather complex narratives, such as the one featured in this book, which has so many moving parts.
At the time of writing this review, there is usually a 3 month period between each part of the book’s release. And for those of us with brains that have high visualization processors that react to the full sound effects and multi-voice tracks, it’s very hard to wait for the rest of the story.
Thus, the only suggestion I have is a renegotiation clause with whatever entity you deal with, so that there is no longer a pause or waiting period on the segments/parts of books.
Keeping the cost the same number of individual credits, As we understand your company must be compensated for their extraordinary talent.
But girlfriend, to hold this specific group of listeners back, feels like we are caught in your hands and collectively holding our breath.
It feels like we are a particular ancient statue of Cthona, in the hands of a certain former Sunball player, patiently and involuntarily waiting to be dunked in a basket .

Perfection

Crescent City is the best graphic audio created.
Chef’s kiss to all of them. This might be my fav of the entire installment. The voices are perfection to each character. Can’t wait for the second half to be released.

No more "dramatized adaptations" for me

First of all, when this came up from Audible as a pre-order for a new Sarah Maas book, I should have examined it more closely and I would have found that I had already listened to the audible version of the book, and this was only new because of the presentation. I would have skipped it entirely. Instead, I wasted a credit. It was nice having separate actors voicing the many characters, but the music and sound effects were distracting, annoying, and completely unnecessary. This was a blatant attempt by someone to make more money from Sarah Maas' genius. She is an excellent writer, and it is easy to picture the scene and imagine the sounds because of her writing skills. No further help is required.
