Publisher's summary

Everything you’ve been taught about leadership is backward, beginning with the costly mistake that causes you to sacrifice money, time, and human capital day after day. It’s not a calculation error or a problem with management style—it’s repeatedly choosing revenue and results over connection and team.

Larry Yatch is a ten-year U.S. Navy SEAL turned business consultant who has reverse-engineered the behaviors that make the SEALs the most elite and connected teams on the planet. In How Leadership (Actually) Works, Larry shares his six-pillar system that companies of any size in any domain can use for sustainable and easier success. This practical manual will show you how to effectively structure teams, manage behavior, maximize self-regulation, and become the leader you need to be so everyone thrives.

From the largest special ops mission in U.S. history to the biggest boardrooms and smallest classrooms, follow Larry’s journey to discover the missing links between effort and efficacy that will revolutionize how you perceive team success. The work isn’t easy, but nothing exceptional is.

Helpful

I have transitioned from working in the salon space to the automotive world. This has been a huge learning curve. Larry’s direction on communication is so helpful! I highly recommend this book.

The best book on leadership it ever read

This is by far the best book on leadership, and in the read. The prepared to have everything that you’ve learned about leadership flipped upside down, but get ready to gain a clear insight on what it means to be a real leader.

Larry is so intentional about every single word he uses, I had to read it multiple times but it was well worth it!

Must read!

Top 5 Books Of All Time

Larry’s ability to use language to communicate how leadership ACTUALLY works has had one of the biggest impacts in not just our business but my personal life as well.
I cannot recommend Larry’s book enough. I have just read to for the fifth time because there are so many core concepts to grasp. I have recommended it to my mentors, friends & family.
Unknowingly, I had the honor & pleasure to sit with Larry 1:1 at a recent event he was speaking at.
He is the most humble, down to earth guy ever.
Before meeting him, he had a life-long supporter of his book.
After meeting him, he now has that & a life-long believer in everything he is associated with.
Thank you Larry for sharing your experience with the world & showing us How Leadership Actually Works.
Your parents would be proud.

Leadership translated

This book definitely open my eyes, too many different ways of providing Leadership and exposed the blinders of how I saw it before.

Best Leadership Book ever!

This is the simplest and most direct book on leadership I have ever read. Reading it after spending time with Davis Goggins makes what Larry Yatch says easier to understand. Now comes the hard part—application and implementation.
