About this listen

Broken, smashed, and stomped in the mud.

That's how Charlotte Bell's heart ended up the last time she let her emotions heat up on a nanny assignment. So taking a new position in frigid Iceland, working for Ambassador Edgar Rawlings, might be just what Charlotte needs in order to heal up and chill out. This time, she's determined to be intrepid and courageous. She's even read all 56 original Nancy Drew books in preparation. Unfortunately, she's neglected to find out anything about Iceland or to look into the background of her oddly compelling employer. When Charlotte stumbles onto the trail of a mystery that only she can solve, she'll need every shred of Nancy's wisdom to keep her life and her heart safe!

I’ve had this book in my wish list for a while. I decided to purchase it, when I saw that it got less than perfect reviews. In my experience, if others don’t like it, I usually love it. I enjoyed the book very much. I’m glad that it had a surprise ending. I enjoyed all the references to Nancy Drew. The main character was special to me because she was a book lover in general.

This book had a lot of fun laugh out loud moments but the ending was a complete let down. I don't require a 'happily ever after' but the way this ending went it was, well off. Elenna Stauffer is one of my favorite narrators. She conveyed the authors voice well through out the entire book.

A Fun Book for the most part

As a kid I read every Nancy Drew I could get my hands on. That's why I chose this book. I found it to be juvenile. Really kind of stupid. Maybe that's how it was intended.

I loved Nancy Drew

This book was a cute chick lit book but the main character was difficult to relate to. You could tell she lacked any sort of life experience and fell into exactly the same habit.

Glad it was in the romance package

All the reviews I’ve seen reference Nancy Drew, but I was very irritated that this is a cheap remake of Jane Eyre. I only got 1/2 way through before realizing that it wasn’t going to get better.

No imagination. The author took one of the most classic books, and best books ever written IMO and turned it into this cheap remake.

If you’ve never read Jane Eyre, but are going after this book based on Nancy Drew, you will also be disappointed.

Jane Eyre storyline... don’t waste your credit

I was a little disappointed in this one. I thought it was predicatable and a little boring.

Something different, fun. Even laugh out loud funny at times- but the ending ruined it for me. Tired of "and they all lived happily ever after"? Actually, I was hoping that the author wouldn't choose to tie everything up in a tight little bow, BUT I have a real problem with plot lines that white-wash over just how difficult it is to raise a happy, well-adjusted child in a one-parent household. How about re-writing the ending? Does the possibility of a sequel require the present ending?

This has got to be the most poorly written book I’ve ever listened to (or read). Add to that a sub par narration, and you’ve almost got a comedy...if it just wasn’t so hard to listen to.

I dare anybody to compliment this book. Seriously...I dare you!

Worst I’ve ever read/heard

I really hated this novel. If you like good endings, this one is not for you. The main character is flaky and not well-defined. I got into the story and ended up rooting for the main couple, but couldn't get past the lack of a real ending and the fact that the character didn't resolve her issues and fix her flaws. Not a fun listen.

Hated It

This character is shallow and stupid. Her "growth" is hollow and limited. The depiction of the relationship that ends up with her "in love" is not believable.

The narrator's male voices need work.

Irresponsible and Ridiculous
