Publisher's summary

James Loram has been a professional full-time wedding DJ and planner for over 20 years. He created a downloadable wedding planner specifically for brides and grooms and was surprised when he found hundreds of DJs buying it, desperate to learn the true ins and outs of planning and performing at weddings. Unfortunately, the guide was specifically designed for engaged couples, not DJs.

With so many DJs out there needing help, James has put together a very thorough step-by-step guide that teaches and explains exactly what needs to be done to become a true professional wedding DJ.

James discusses every aspect of being a wedding DJ:

  • The commitment: It's not as easy as you think
  • The planning: It's all about personalization
  • The agenda: What works and why
  • The personality: More important than the music
  • The music: Not as important as you think
  • The day of: Should be the least stressful part of your job
  • The equipment: It's last for a reason
  • The final word: It's not about you
  • The wedding songs timeline planner: A complete wedding planning guide

How to Be a Wedding DJ is filled with tons of ideas on how to make a wedding fun, how to plan a wedding the right way from an event mind-set, and a complete walkthrough of the wedding planning process. This book is designed to bring any newbie DJ up to speed on what it takes to plan and perform at his or her first wedding or for the veteran DJ who needs to take it to the next level.

Once you get the basics down, your next book should be The Best Wedding Reception Ever! By Peter Merry.

Overall good book for Dj. But no PDF for down

I like the book. It's very good for beginners and a pleasure as a reminder of the does and don't. But I would really appreciate the the PDF download. Kind of the reason why I bought the book.

Good Points and Ideas

I agree and implement many things that he talks about, and even learned a couple of things as well. Good job, even though he failed on the pronunciation of Braddah Iz twice. Lol. I suggest this book to all new DJs and even those old dogs like myself. Would have been great to include the timeline he constantly talks about as a document, as some other audio books I have purchased had done.

A great starting point for entertainers!

Great advice for beginners to seasoned professionals. James takes the information spews it back out in a fun way so the information can be absorbed and it's a great resource for couples planning a wedding. I really enjoyed this!

Helpful as a beginning DJ

Really helpful book that points out a lot of subtle details I hadn’t noticed yet about events despite already DJing for a year. Learning how others approach their events is super valuable and I’m sure this book has something in it for you even if you have years of experience!

if you're serious about DJing

Anybody can press a play button, so that does't make you a DJ. Music is super important, but there is more to DJing an event than the music. James walks you through begining to end of a wedding. You can tell he's fine tuned this process over the years. I DJ private events most weekends & i've adoped some of his practices. If you're serious about DJing this book will pay for itself a thousand time over.
