About this listen

Agnes the ant failed her nuptial flight "... when I was passing through the ant hill entrance, my abdomen got stuck. I couldn`t move either back or forward. I blocked the entrance to the whole ant hill for three days and no ant could go in or out..."

But things got even worse. She doesn`t have her wings any more! Will she ever be able to repeat her nuptial flight and become a queen? Or will she be eaten by ants` greatest antagonist: an anteater? "I do not care if you eat me! ... Yes I deserve to be eaten! If you give me a moment I can even get you some tomato sauce so I taste better!"

But Fred the anteater loves healthy food and his exercise routine. "I`m on ant free diet! I`m vegetarian, in fact, I always take a vegan option if available. Formic acid is my main allergy trigger!" Is Fred really a vegetarian? And will he ever succeed in converting his fitness hobby into his dream career? Nice story...but what is the book really about?

Motivation in achieving your goals, healthy lifestyle, losing weight, growing up and maturing, unconventional friendship, acceptance, diversity, prejudices. Is it really a book for children? It's not only for kids, but definitely for teenagers and grown ups as well. Why? Because it contains a message: How to change your lifestyle. For real! It doesn't matter if you are a teenager or an adult. It is never too late to make your dreams come true. An audiobook to make you laugh and to make you think, reflect on your life and go for it! Yes, you can! Everything is possible.

You can change! Believe and Do!

Narrator clearly distinguished characters by their voices, imbuing each with personality. The story creates the possibility of changing what you expect of yourself – even when it appears incredible. (This listener had some difficulty with the Anteater going against his natural instinct to eat ants – such a fundamental element of being an anteater. Yet, setting aside rationality and logic, the story draws the listener in to the life of the characters and to the changes they choose for themselves and the steps to making those changes stick. Pre-school through first graders will enjoy Agnes and Fred’s adventures.

Cutesy

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. It was a cutesy story but I think it could have been made shorter and still gotten the point across. It’s a cute story for young kids but I think a bit too long and in places, repetitive for them to listen to it in entirety. I would like to listen to something else by this author to see what another book would be like.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator. He did a good job individually voicing the characters.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

How to Change Your Lifestyle

It is possible to make positive changes if you really want to, and a little help from a friend doesn’t hurt. The animal characters will appeal to children and the message is great for all ages. Both the author and narrator did a nice job.
