About this listen

A New York Times best seller!

A growing number of Americans want to tear down what it’s taken us 250 years to build - and they’ll start by canceling our shared history, ideals, and culture.

Traditional areas of civic agreement are vanishing. We can’t agree on what makes America special. We can’t even agree that America is special. We’re coming to the point that we can’t even agree what the word America itself means.

“Disintegrationists” say we’re stronger together, but their assault on America’s history, philosophy, and culture will only tear us apart. Who are the disintegrationists? From Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States to the New York Times’ 1619 Project, many modern analyses view American history through the lens of competing oppressions, a racist and corrupt experiment from the very beginning. They see American philosophy as a lie - beautiful words pasted over a thoroughly rotted system. They see America’s culture of rights as a façade that merely reinforces traditional hierarchies of power, instead of being the only culture that guarantees freedom for individuals.

Disintegrationist attacks on the values that built our nation are insidious because they replace each foundational belief, from the rights to free speech and self-defense to the importance of marriage and faith communities, with nothing more than an increased reliance on the government.

This twisted disintegrationist vision replaces the traditional “unionist” understanding that all Americans are united in a shared striving toward the perfection of universal ideals.

How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps shows that to be a cohesive nation we have to uphold foundational truths about ourselves, our history, and reality itself - to be unionists instead of disintegrationists. Shapiro offers a vital warning that if we don’t recover these shared truths, our future - our union - as a great country is threatened with destruction.

A true "must read".

Especially these days, this is a MUST read. It is a beautifully succinct and accurate explanation of what we are all seeing going on in the country today. Seriously, read it and take a look around.

Honest review of U.S. history and it's effects

What a refreshing and honest review of U.S. history! Thank you, Ben, for calling out the revisionist "historians" and laying bare their agenda. Though our current times can feel very bleak, this book at least lays out a way forward to preserve our union (and resulting freedoms); provided we remember our common history and focus on what has made America great. Those amazing documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, are still our best hope for universally improving our quality of life.
This should be required reading at all high schools and universities. Maybe our halls of higher education could then regain some of their dignity and legitimacy.

lesson in civics, American philosophy and history

a much needed reflection in the victories and failures of the USA. more importantly a call for standing up for our founding principals against those that would see them burn to the ground.

priceless, academic, not emotional

very well written. so many quotable lines in this book such as: "safety from the mob. safety in the mob".

Ben is hard to keep up with at all times, but I find no shame in rewinding and looking things up. Ben's narration was classic- clear, concise, cohesive, correct, and complete. very academic, not emotional. Ben doesn't always sound the most genuine about the horrors of the past, but I think that's classic Ben. his gift is not pulling at heart strings, but strengthening them if you're guided by truth and reason.

A must read.

This voting year is an important one and this book highlights exactly why. If we do not learn our history it will repeat in some way. So learn and vote...

Must Read (or Listen)

Highly enlightening and informative, I will certainly revisit this book... but I could do without the vocal impersonations.

HERE IS WHY AMERICANS SHOULD READ THIS BOOK:

Ben Shapiro wrote an important book. Read it --- because its happening just the way he explains it.

What if you (or me) is contributing to the downfall of America and we don't even know it? What if we "mean well" but our good intentions are misplaced because we fail to see or understand the greater picture? And how would we even know that we are part of the problem? How would we recognize the consequences of our actions before it is too late?

Read Ben Shapiro's book!

Awesome! Minus his awful and distracting impersonations!

I found this to be extremely insightful and worth my time... I think everyone needs to be better educated about the leftist ideals and agenda. My only qualm is when Ben decides to attempt his impersonations of Obama and Sanders that I found completely distracting and unnecessary. I think Ben should re-record those parts, it would definitely help him to appeal maybe even a little more to anybody listening that has any affection for those men.
