Awesome Book and Audiobook!

Blair is on a vacation of sorts, trying to forget about her ex. She finds herself in a small town, needing rescuing from whoever is following her and clearly meaning her harm. In steps Jake to the rescue! Can he keep her safe? Can they both keep their hearts safe?

This is an awesome book and audiobook by first time author Blye Donovan! I love the suspense and intrigue, as well as the sexiness and chemistry between Blair and Jake! The Narrator for this audiobook did an amazing job bringing this wonderful story to life!

This is a relatively quick, but great read/listen and I look forward to reading and listening to more from this Author!

Listening left me with mixed emotions

The book is wel narrated, I liked the storyline, and I liked the characters (main and side). While this is a trilogy, it doesn’t end with a cliffhanger but a happily ever after. I highly appreciate that!

This is a very short story and that’s the part that left me unsatisfied. It’s instalove with very little conflict. There’s a suspense element that give a bit of tension but not much.

too short

It's a sweet novella, which I would have preferred to maybe be a full-length novel - give the characters some time to develop and for the reader to get to know them better.
The love story moved way too fast for me, and I think in a novel the pace would have been slower and more honest.
The narration sounded like it was recorded in a tunnel.

Great novella!

In book 1 in The Rolling Brook series, lawyer Blair O’Rourke needs time away after a bad break-up with her boyfriend, so she leaves Chicago for the countryside. Then someone tries to run her down with a car. Luckily for her, a sexy farmer comes to her rescue.
Jake Redland is smitten with Blair, despite his failed long-term relationship with another city gal. Blair is the last type of woman he should go. That doesn’t stop him from wanting to help her, especially since her trouble seems to have something to do with the land developer who wants his homestead. With their problems intertwined, they’ll have to work together alongside his cop brother to solve the mystery and somehow stay alive.
I listened to the audio and enjoyed it. The story only takes place during a couple of days, so Blair and Jake fell hard and fast. The H/h had great chemistry and respect for each other. I’d give this book 3 flames for the heat rating, which was a nice break from the usual hotter stories that I read.
Leah Carr did an excellent job with the narration. She imbued excitement, danger, and sensuality with her voice and brought the characters to life.
Readers who love a good suspense romance should give this book a try.

Fun Story

I love cute predictable romance novels and this one did not disappoint. I listened to the audio version of the story and the narrator was fantastic! Loved her. Blaire was blindsided by her boyfriend who broke up with her. She ends up in a small town near Chicago to discover her ex sent someone to hunt her down. There she met Jake, both having an instant attraction. There was a little excitement as the hunt began, making this book more of a romantic mystery. It was a fun quick read I recommend if you’re in the mood for a love story with a little excitement mixed in.

Love this quick romantic suspense

This is my second time with this book since I enjoyed it so much. This round was with the audiobook.
The narrator did a great job on portraying both male and female parts. I think the only thing that wasn't the best were some times when the emotions should be neutral, I could hear a smile in the narrator's voice. Other than that, it was a great story and the narrator captured the suspense and build-up really well.

For a debut novel, this book blew me away! After a breakup with long time boyfriend in the city, Blair visits the town her grandma was from. The one that would comfort her as a child. Getting away from the stress of life should be easy. Well...not when Blair is made a target.

This pulled me in and kept my attention. I didn't feel it was rushed, even when it was a short story. The end has a teaser for the next boo and I'm definitely intrigued and can't wait. I'm excited to see what more this author has to offer.
