About this listen

#1 New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts presents a passionate story from the thrilling Night Tales series.…

Her voice was like whiskey, smooth and potent, but it was her contradictions that fascinated Detective Boyd Fletcher - the vulnerability beneath her tough-as-nails facade. Late-night radio announcer Cilla O'Roarke was being threatened by a caller, and it was Boyd's job to protect her no matter what. But the sultry deejay was getting under his skin, and the undeniable attraction that sizzled between them concerned the detective…because anything could happen on the Night Shift.

From start to finish, I love it. I was lost in the story, like I was there caught up in the sound of her voice. Beautifully read and spoken like she was meant to read this book. Well done Kate Rudd well done!

I love it.

Period piece from another era - definitely early years of romance genre. Ok, but not one of my faves as Cilla came across as so brittle.
Rudd was a decent narrator.

Very early Roberts

Kate Rudd brought Priscilla to life. her voice was amazing like a radio voice would sound. Boyd sounded sexy and strong where as most women readers can't pull off.
loved listening to this cop gets his girl story. Nora Roberts did it again. ..

enjoyable story

I really liked the story. However, I would not recommend the audible version, simply because of the horrendous narration.

Great story. Intolerable narration!

Loved this book and the Narrator who brought it to life. Already half way thru the next one in this series. Well worth the time for 7 hrs plus of entertainment!

Another Good One from Nora Roberts

It was an interesting and fast paced novel.
Characterisation could have been a bit better, however, overall I enjoyed your novel. Thank you.

Really liked this one.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Absolutely, main character is a winer and hostile about everything.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Give the main character some common sense.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was terrible! She made the main character sound like a cry baby.

Could you see Night Shift being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No way!

"OK STORY LINE, HORRIBLE NARRATOR"

I’m new to audiobooks and Nora Roberts and decided to give both a try after seeing them as kindle daily deals. I listened to this on and off during my 30 minute commute to work and l have to say the audiobook is the only reason I didn’t quit part way through. The narrator wasn’t nearly as bad as many have said (IMO) and her use of different voices helped distinguish the characters and give some life to the story. The ebook alone had me rolling my eyes.

The story was predictable and the insta-love that Boyd had was a little too much for an adult novel and I can see why people had a problem with his character especially when it was such a stark contrast to Silla. It’s definitely more of a romance than a thriller so go into that knowing so and maybe it’ll be a better read/listen.

Overall it was enough to keep me interested and looking forward to continue but in the end it’s not anything that will leave a permanent imprint in my memory. Definitely would still recommend people to try it as it’s a shorter listen/read.

Entertaining
