About this listen

This is a complete five-book series urban fantasy adventure bundle.

Bound by duty. Marked by fate.

I’m Krystin Blackwood, and I’ve only ever been good at one thing: killing demons of Darkness.

But at 24, I’m about to face my toughest challenge yet: shifting from working alone to joining a team of three other Hunters. Newbie Hunters. They don’t know their magik, they barely know their place in the world, and when they find out the secrets I’ve been carrying, they’ll definitely decide it’s safer if they don’t know me.

But unfortunately for them - and me - Darkness has other plans. Lady Azar, Darkness’s heir, stole my new team leader’s son two years ago. Now, she and her lackeys are rallying to exchange Ben’s son for me because of the power I wield. I’m one-half of a prophecy to save an ancient city the Powers of Good lost centuries ago. And if I fail or die before that happens, the destruction of that city will be felt across all planes of existence.

If we can’t find Ben’s son before All Hallows’ Eve and somehow save him without putting my life at risk, that existential explosion will absolutely happen. But it’ll be nothing compared to the destruction wrought if Lady Azar changes Ben’s son into a demon...and her minion.

Because the only thing more dangerous than me with a blade is a father’s wrath.

This complete series bundle contains all five books of the Hunter Circles series: The Hunted, The Traitor, The Changed, The Hero, and The Power. All are full-length 60,000-plus-word urban-fantasy adventure novels full of nonstop, action-packed adventure and demon-fighting, magic, gray anti-heroes, a slow-burn romance, and a story full of heart from the very first chapter.

Krystin is cool, but Ben is a moron

This story alternates between Krystin and Ben's POV. Krystin is a great multidimensional character. Ben, on the other hand, is a moron and consistently does the dumbest thing possible, which is a bit frustrating.
The narrator makes so unconventional voice choices at times (why is Shawn's voice so high) and occasional I think she uses the wrong voice.

Maybe it’s just me?

I found the audiobook hard to follow on who was saying what. I’m not sure if it was the way it was written or the way it was narrated but I listened to the whole set, so it wasn’t bad just not as entertaining as an “easy to listen to” story.

So much idiocy

I’ll start with the pros. I like the world building & the originality of the beings… with that said, so hard to finish this series due to the idiocy of the characters alone. Besides the hierarchy of the circles makes little to no sense, my big problem with the story is the complete stupidity of the characters. Oh, the leader is making bad calls, let’s still follow. Oh, the rage has me so super pumped I can kill the bad guy, let’s just stop because the three ur old is crying. It’s a constant borage of, not so much plot holes, but the most asinine plot directions die to mid storytelling.
If ur looking for something different & passable, sure, read it. If ur looking for something good, u probably want to spend a little more time looking.

It's ok - fun story, hard to listen to

Story overall was fine. Good value as 1 credit for the entire series.

Some areas didn't tie well together for me. Sometimes reading a series with magic, it's too easy for the author to tie things together, just because of poof magic, even when it doesn't make sense. I also didn't get the romance and how a strong female main character can be treated so badly by her team and at the end, everything is fine. Her teammates can visibly see some of the bad things happening to her and still blame her for it. So, some things aren't great, but overall the story was alright and I didn't hate it.

Most of my struggles are with the narration. I'm guessing this is one of the first books/series she's narrated, so I tried to forgive a lot of mistakes. Many times she would pause mid sentence, basically sounding like there are periods where there are not, and I'd lose the meaning. This was probably the hardest part to get through. Sometimes it was so bad I had a hard time putting together the meaning. This could actually be why I feel like the author loosely ties together some things. She also mispronounces words. Hopefully the narrator will get better, but I will avoid her readings.

Narrator greatly frustrating.

Great story, but the narrator mispronounces so many words and cuts sentences at abrupt times, which makes following the flow difficult.

I didnt like it. Some things about it didn't make sense, like they hunt demons at night, but 1am is late?!? Also for being a team they weren't very loyal to eachother.

Good story

Good world building. I would like to have a female and male narrator or a full cast.

Started out very bad so far

1) She is supposed to be an experienced Demon Hunter. First encounter she charges up and jumps on his back? Really? That is…so…middle school. What the hell! That’s how you kill powerful demons. Jump on their backs and try to break their necks?

She went from on being his back, trying to break its neck, to a distance away with someone between her and the demon without transition. Demon throws a knife and she catches it out of the air and stabs the demon…huh? Stabs the demon from a distance far enough away to allow her to catch it out of the air? If she is using her telekinesis the writer should have said so. But that’s not how it reads.

I hope it gets better.

Great story but didn't enjoy the narration

I only finished the book set because the story was captivating, but the narration was difficult to listen to. The voices were too similar. Should've had a male and a female narrator.
