About this listen

In the third and final installment in the Unknown Assassin trilogy, Boy Nobody is on the run from The Program and uncovers a secret about his past that forces him to decide where his loyalties lie.

The Program has sent Boy Nobody on countless missions, instructed to kill whichever target he was given. But now, after going rogue, he is on his own mission to rescue his friend, Howard, who was captured by The Program. Boy Nobody manages to free Howard as well as Tanya, a mysterious girl who was being held with him. Howard and Tanya help Boy Nobody collect information about his father, eventually revealing a dangerous secret that teaches Boy Nobody a valuable lesson - he can't trust anyone.

Allen Zadoff packs the third book of the Unknown Assassin series with even more action, higher stakes, and mind-blowing reveals that will leave listeners riveted.

Critic reviews

"When James Bond was a little boy, he wanted to grow up to be half as hard-core as Boy Nobody." (Barry Lyga, author of I Hunt Killers)
"[Boy Nobody] is like a darker version of Alex Rider, [and] Thomas in James Dashner's Maze Runner series.... Fans of such fast-paced action novels should love this first installment in the [Unknown Assassin] series." ( VOYA)

this is Michael Vey, not Evan Smoak

Perhaps I was misled at the beginning of book 1. I read it as a serious adult black operations tale similar to the Orphan X books. And I was very slow to realize that these books are really YA fiction more on a par with the Michael Vey stories where you know from the outset that this is over-the-top fiction like the Spy Kids movies. Therefore each book's quality dropped in my estimation.

Given that I didn't figure this out until the middle of this book, I found the events and skills increasingly improbable and simplistic. A lot happens in this volume, very quickly and easily. There may be more to follow, but probably not for me.

IF you read this knowing the YA genre, you may enjoy it more than I did.
