About this listen

Some rules should never be broken.

After suffering multiple miscarriages, school counselor Jo Murphy is on a mission to save her marriage by any means possible. When Mia, a pregnant senior, unexpectedly shows up in her office, Jo devises an unorthodox plan to adopt her baby. But when Mia's handsome football captain boyfriend suddenly goes missing, Jo finds herself embroiled in a heart-stopping murder plot that threatens to destroy the one thing she wants most. The resulting investigation unearths one shocking secret after another until nothing about Mia's pregnancy is adding up. Trapped in a web of deceit of her own making, Jo risks losing everything if she exposes the truth. Is there any limit to what she will do to keep a killer's baby?

An emotional roller coaster of a domestic thriller that will leave you breathless!

Will you enjoy I Know What You Did? If you listened to any of my favorite psychological and domestic suspense thriller authors including K.L. Slater, Shalini Boland, Adam Croft, Kathryn Croft, Lisa Gardner, Louise Jensen, or Rachel Caine, the answer is a resounding yes!

I think this could have been a really great book but it seemed like the author was rushing through a lot of things that could have had more suspense and detail. I noticed when there was an hour left, thinking to myself that there is no way this can almost be over. Also the way the narrator voiced one of the main characters drove me bonkers.

Seemed rushed

I chose to listen to this book after receiving a free audio copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

I Know What You Did started a little slow with Jo obsessing about her miscarriages and her marriage. Once it got going, though, it was one surprise after another. And so many secrets! There were so many possibilities about what was going on with Mia that it was impossible to guess for sure how it was all going to turn out. Some things were what I suspected, but there were a couple big surprises that I hadn’t even thought of!

The narrator did a good job with pace and timing. If you’re looking for a twisted murder mystery with a good ending, I Know What You Did would be a good choice.

Surprises galore

I Know What You Did: A psychological suspense thriller (Domestic Deceptions Collection - Standalone Thrillers), my tenth amazing (272-page/8-hour 11-minute) read from author N.L. Hinkens. I enjoyed the outstanding suspense story-line with its intricately woven twists and turns, more knots than Alexander the Greats Gordian Knot, although a bit more transparent than her earlier works I'd read, I still had to read to the end to know! Norma (N.L.) Hinkens is on my radar of great authors! I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Narrator Sara K. Sheckells's narration added to the book's enjoyment, her whiney Mia was perfect and spot-on. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

An enjoyable, unique 4 1/2 star read

A true psychological thriller, this one has more sick secrets than a politician. Go in knowing as little as possible for the best result.... Kudos to the author.

Twisted evil entertainment...

This book was such a great twisty thriller. I thought I knew what was going on in the beginning but I was way off. There was so much deceit and so many secrets woven throughout. The anticipation had me at the edge of my seat needing to know more the deeper into the story I got. I didn’t find Jo to be very likable at first but she grew on me. Her character had depth and was very well thought out. The whole novel was intricately layered like an onion. Nothing was as it seemed on the surface.
I listened to the audiobook version of the novel. The narrator had an easy to understand voice and the pace was steady. The narrator’s voice itself was a bit nasally but after the first few chapters I hardly noticed. I just came to think of it as Jo’s voice.
The whole experience was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a run of the mill suspense novel but I got something much more. I hope to get my hands on more by this author in the near future.
