About this listen

I wanted to conquer the world. She wanted to gaze at the stars.

It's been twelve years since I last saw Scottie Rucker. A grim prognosis has upended my life, and no amount of my hard-earned money can fix it. So, after leaving a note on the nightstand, I search for my first love—I search for life.

When I find her in Austin, working at a quaint general store and living in an RV behind it, those twelve years vanish. She's exactly how I remember her.

Scottie thinks our reunion is a small-world coincidence, and I'm not ready to tell her the truth. After we rekindle our friendship, she convinces me to work part-time at the store while she pursues her budding relationship with Koen, a welder and the grandson of a customer.

Scottie's ability to live in the moment is exactly what I need. But how do I convince her new boyfriend that I'm not his competition? And what happens if my heart changes its mind?

Unimaginably Brilliant & Heartbreaking

I have read or listened to all of Jewel E Ann’s books. I definitely have my favorites but without a doubt the stories in all of them are so good, definitely thought provoking and always tugging on an emotional string. This book, omg this book just about did me in. I can’t remember the last time I ugly cried as much as I did. JEA’s writing is realistic, fresh, funny but so much more. Really a gift for all of us as readers/listeners. I loved every chapter, line, minute of this story even the ones most soul crushing. I cannot recommend this book enough (except you most certainly will need a box of tissues to get thru) but don’t let that be a deterrent because the story continues and our hearts are held in reverent hands!

Narration made this story come alive. Avie Paige was amazing as Scottie and Jay Myers was truly spectacular as both Price and Koen. Both narrators provided all their characters with unique voices and gave so much to the emotional ranges expressed in the book. Bravo for making a spectacular book even more compelling.

So relevant in our times.

What a great book! Devoured it in a day! It’s been a long time since a book captured me so.

Male Narrator Yay, Female Narrator Nay…

The female narrator was not for me. I wish I would have just read the book instead but audiobooks are most convenient for me. I had a difficult time enjoying the story because of that.

Beautifully written.

This story truly makes you stop and think. And that is exactly what I did; this story was different and I loved it.

Female narrator is not my favorite

The story was great, the male narrator was good. The female narrator was distractingly bad.
