About this listen

From bestselling author Jewel E. Ann comes a hilarious secret lovers story that redefines the meaning of friendship.

Shep’s found the female version of himself…and he thinks she’s perfect—perfectly unavailable.

Everyone loves Shep, the charismatic employee at Scottsdale’s newest pet store. He has shared custody of his two dogs with his annoying ex-wife and a smile that can disarm most women.

Except Dr. Sophie Ryan.

What starts out as a disastrous first meeting, involving a coffee catastrophe and mistaken flirting, turns into an unconventional friendship.

Fake phone sex.

Dog park dates.

And eighteen holes of golf.

The problem? Sophie’s taken herself out of the dating pool for a mysterious reason, imprisoning Shep in the friend zone for eternity.

As their competitive personalities hit a boiling point, the gloves come off and so do their clothes. When Sophie’s “real” life threatens their relationship, can Shep let go of his past to chase the one that might get away?

Good Story- voice hard to listen to

I really like this book. there were points of laugh out loud and points of blushing. The hardest thing about getting through this book was the narration. unfortunately the woman's voice sounded like Siri or Alexa and was just very robotic. Once I got into the story I was able to ignore it but it was hard to get into

Romcom Perfection

The narrators took a little time getting used to, but the story was so perfect! Loved it! It made me laugh out loud so many times! :)

cute but not my favorite

I've had this book on my wishlist awhile with high hopes. The story was cute, but lacked depth and I was a bit disappointed. Also, the female narrator was very monotone and robotic. Didn't really care for it either.

Robotic narration was very distracting.

This is the first audiobook for which I want a refund. The narrator sounds like “Alexa” in that she speaks like a robot throughout the book. It was so distracting that I couldn’t focus on the story or become connected to the characters. I’m sure the narrator is a fine person, but she is a TERRIBLE narrator. I have to wonder if it was nerves or she actually speaks like this in her everyday life. It was mind-boggling to listen to. Perhaps I will buy the book and read it instead. I love the author and know this story had to be better than it was presented.

Funny and sweet

I’m not a huge rom-com fan, but I really enjoyed this audiobook. The book was witty and adorable, and I laughed out loud a few times. When I first started listening I was worried the narration would be too much, but I actually think it added to the story.
I’m actually really surprised the audiobook is averaging 4.3 stars right now. I give it 5!

Great book, narration… not so muc

The female narrator’s voice was robotic and monotone. The male’s voice was just fine. I’m glad I’d read the book before I listened to it, otherwise I wouldn’t have thought it was as good as I knew it was.

Meh

Narrator was so off and to much back and forth. To much whining. Not a fan

Charming, touching, and laughter

Exactly what I had hoped! Charming, touching and full of unexpected laughter that had me laughing out loud! Jewel writes about flawed characters in real relatable ways that come to life and touch the readers heart. She did it again with this book! It is beautiful performed and I loved it!

Such a cute story! I loved the characters and Jimmy really made me laugh. A delightful disaster ending in lasting love.

Mediocre story with atrocious narration

The stilted reading honestly sounds robotic. Another review says it sounds like Alexa is reading, and it does. The story itself is just a collection of Romance tropes applied to a character that doesn't make any sense (female lead). She seems young, immature and insipid, but she is supposedly a doctor, and an experienced adult who has chosen to surrogate a baby. She behaves like a 15 year old, so when there is any sexual/romantic content, it just feels uncomfortable and kind of gross.
