Masterpiece

I’m so glad I stumbled upon Tony’s wonderful art. This book is indeed art. I read all things detective and this book convinced me Tony is strongly in the top 5. Thank you for the enjoyment. Ps ... I’m reading backwards from last out to first out. On to the next

Ambitious Emotional Thriller

Very bad guys do horrible deeds in pursuit of money and power. Bliss and his team unravel their interconnected evil doings and their plans at great cost.Sometimes they skirt their own bureaucracy to make progress. Further complications ensue when British intelligence agents insert themselves into the search for evidence and motive. People dear to Bliss are jeopardized. Will Bliss and his team develop enough evidence to bring justice and to hold the crooks accountable without destroying their own personal ties and lives in the process? if you pick up this book, beware. Putting it down before it is finished will be well nigh impossible.

superb !

different in all good ways. nothing run of the mill here. the characters are very well developed and they all make mistakes. no one character has all the answers. plot is clever without being dull. well done, indeed

Another great plot

This series is intelligent and intriguing. The first books have been free as well. What a bonus!

Great, plot and twists and character development.

Cared about the outcome of the case and the crew from the nick. Like eating a 5 course meal at a local pub.

"If Fear Wins" was great as well!

Aside from the story line, and excellent narration, I am really appreciating the quality of the English language in Tony Forder's crime police procedural books. Mr. Ashland's narration is a pleasure to listen to. On to the next book in the series.

struggled

this is the first book of many I have listened to from Tony J. Forder. I usually really enjoy his stories but the only thing I liked in this one is the Narrator Greg Wagland. The story just did not move forward. it kept drifting off into la la land and wasn't moving forward. I couldn't finish it. my mind kept drifting with it. I'm sorry to give such a negative review because I do like all his other books. I guess everybody has a dud. this I'm my opinion is his.

Masterfully done.

A wonderfully complex story line. The self awareness and character development was an unusual and pleasurable view added to the intricate plot. The effect was refreshing and helped keep interest high. I am looking forward to more books in this series.

Good story annoying main character

This is the only series I keep listening to where I hate the main character. The stories are basically good and I like some of the supporting characters but Bliss is incredibly annoying with his long introspective guilt ridden solo scenes. The author might do better to send Bliss on vacation and write about Penny, who is just as smart but far less annoying

Bliss needs to grow up

This detective drives me crazy. Bosch he is not. He’s prone to temper tantrums and melodramatic romantic musings.

I did like the story, there is promise here. Basically what is needed is major character development . As in...Penney Chandler has no personality, Bliss is one dimensional...
