Publisher's summary

Chris and Cathy made such a loving home for 14-year-old Jory - so handsome, so gentle. And for Bart, who had such a dazzling imagination for a nine-year-old.

Then the lights came on in the house next door. Soon the Old Lady in Black was there, watching them, guarded by her strange old butler. Soon she had Bart over for cookies and ice cream and asked him to call her "Grandmother". And soon Bart's transformation began....

Fed by the hint of terrible things about his mother and father...leading him into shocking acts of violence. Now while this little boy trembles on the edge of madness, his anguished parents await the climax to a horror that flowered in an attic long ago, a horror whose thorns are still wet with blood, still tipped with fire.

Donada Peters

absolutely love the dollanganger series. Why I must have listened to it a hundred times. Donada Peters made it come alive for me. it was magical!

This time however, narrated by Mena Subaru & Gillian Flynn I was left longing for the old readings I love so much. Even though this is the same story, it isn't the same story.

But eventually I forgot about all that and just enjoyed listening :) 👍👍

Very captivating

I've read the first two books in this series and, so far, this one (the third of five) was the best. The story keeps moving and answers a lot of questions the first two bring about in the readers. The narrator does a great job and makes listening a pleasure.

Riveting!!!

This book kept my attention from beginning to the end. I read the series Flowers in the attic when I was in my early teens. I had to have each book. I had my head buried so deep in the books, that my mom had to see what I was reading. She then asked to see the first book in the series. I thought that I was in trouble, until she had finished reading it, and asked for the second book; then the next until she had passed me up. This series is even better now than before, because there were things that I didn't understand then that I can now. Excellent writing. It's tie to move to the next book again, in this series.

Blast from the past if you grew up reading these books.

The story was good. I read these as a youngster many years ago and they had more of an impact back then. It was enjoyable to rehash the story. Not sure about the performer. He was good as Jory and Chris but as a female voice and as Bart it was a little odd… some manage this better. Overall a fun “beach read” type of novel.

Wow

I wasn’t expecting this story at all. Infact my entire childhood I had only read the first book. Now as an adult I’m finally getting the full story and it’s shocking to see where it led. I won’t deny in the beginning of this book I struggled to stick it out but I’m glad I did. Not only did the narrator do great with the different voices, but he did great overall, he did as great as a man can for the female roles too.
The story itself. Wow. It’s just interesting to see the long term trauma of Cathy and Chris and seeing how they’re still overcoming those problems and trying to do right by their kids and not fall into the generational curse.
Bart was my least favorite, but I also understand why he’s the way he is. I can’t wait to read the next book and I’m hoping for these people to finally find the peace they deserve
