About this listen

They call me a hero. I save people. It's what I do. It's the only thing I've ever wanted to do.

Then I meet her - the girl with the sad eyes. She's lost everything. Twice. And I know she's using me to forget her past.

Just when things seem perfect, that past threatens with the unimaginable.

They may call me a hero. But she's the one person I can't save.

I hate to leave this low of a rating on this book but...

I feel horrible for what Ivy has gone through. Her story is horrific and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But I feel equally horrible for Bass. He hasn't had it easy in the love department and when he finally finds the one, she pushes him away to the point that I didn't think there was any way they could be fixed.

I was so very happy I was wrong, I should have known better since it's their book and all. You may be asking yourself, then why the low rating? Well, here's my opinion. I loooove this Author, I devour everything she writes...usually. There was a lot of shiz that went down in this book and some of it was completely unnecessary. In fact, one character, in my opinion, should have been more present in the story-line because of his involvement.

When they finally found their way back to one another, I was beyond ecstatic. I mean, hello? I love Bass and he so deserves his HEA, which he did get, hallelujah. But after the last bomb drops, I don't know how he could not finally call it quits. I mean he was robbed of so much and they just carry on like it's no big deal. Um, it's a big deal. Anyone in this situation would think it's a HUGE deal. I know this is completely vague, but I'm not a spoilery kinda gal. So I'll say this. Read it. Form your own options. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely, just bring tissues and an open mind.

Where do I start? This will bring you all the tears! I am not gonna lie I want to shake Ivy, but at the same time I can totally understand her emotional situation 😢. Bass is Amazing!!!!! This story reminds me of a friend of mine who has experienced this sort of trauma amd had a man love her the was Bass loves Ivy. Soul deep love. heat story!
I love Teddy Hamilton but Erin Mallon kind of bugs me (she draws out words and is breathy- but I have heard worse)

You need tissues. A Lot

The book was amazing and Erin and Teddy did a great job bringing Ivy and Sebastian to life.
Ivy endures something no woman should have to and while in Hawaii trying to find herself Sebastian is brought into her path. As a firefighter, Sebastian wants to break down her walls to save her. But the question is, can he? Grab some tissues and find out!

I had so many emotions while listening to this book! I could not stop listening.

Wrecked my heat and put it back together!

Samantha Christie really surprised me with this story about loss and grief. Ivy really frustrated me with her poor decision making skills regarding her pregnancy and her relationship with Sebastian. I realize that she was devastated by the fatality of losing two children but she did not make logical/rational decisions regarding her relationship which caused unnecessary heartache for both Sebastian and herself! Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon were both great narrators. Their performances provoked so much emotion and introspection about what it means to really love, sacrifice and lose someone.

I don’t have anything negative to say about this book! The only thing I could even ask more of was maybe another chapter at the end to really close things up. I also loved that we heard from Brady, Sawyer and even Kyle Stone. It was like a cast reunion at one point and we got to hear kind of what was going on in their lives at the time. Can’t wait to get to the next one!

Loved

Oh Bas...I’m so glad I decided to bite the bullet and listen to this one. I fell in love with The Perfect Game series. Christy is the type of author that will make you ugly cry, throw something and then ugly cry at the HEA! Bas and Ivy...yes it was frustrating but you just keep listening, finished this in a day! Just the absolute best ❤️

Utterly superb!! Ugly Cry and Happy Tears!!

I was really looking forward to this book, and although it was well written, most of the book revolved around grief and loss of a child and it dominated the love story between the characters. I didn’t feel like they had much time together that wasn’t surrounded by her emotional loss and angst. I probably wouldn’t choose this subject matter in the future.

Couldn’t have ask for better narration duo than #themuffandtheham. What a gut wrenching story from Samantha Christy. All the recollection chapters made me teary eyed (definitely an ugly cry) Love all the emotions the book evoked, the tenderness, the sadness, and the elation are so well narrated. So glad that Bas got his own HEA with Ivy.

Gut wrenching romance with all the feels

I really enjoyed this book. I found it to have more substance than a typical romantic comedy. Not all sex, sex, sex and not so corny. The storyline had me engaged and I even teared up in 2 parts. I would definitely recommend.
