About this listen

I'm a city boy, not a cowboy. I'm way out of my league on a horse ranch in Texas.

Falling for the sexy horse vet was never my intention. Especially when I find out she could be dating a killer.

Sneaking around with her? Not my brightest idea, but someone's got to protect her.

It's just one summer. One casual fling.

Until it becomes everything but.

This book can be listened to as a stand-alone novel.

If you fell in love with the Mitchell sisters, you won't want to miss this next-generation series. It's sexy, sweet, and suspenseful all rolled into one.

Absolutely loved it! 🥰❤️🥰

My first Samantha Christy- will not be my last. The story was exciting and romantic. Being from Texas... made it so much more personal for me. But anyone will enjoy this book. And Jason and Erin were so perfect. Two of my favs and they made the characters come alive! Get it!!!

save a 🐎, ride a 🤠... 💜🔥💜🔥

<audible purchase>Maddox & Andie: (triggers: domestic abuse, sexual assault, assault...) romance novel reader trigger- slow burn. I didn't know if I was gonna like this but after reading the blurb, I was intrigued. Maddox is on the family ranch for the summer. He doesn't expect to fall for the ranch's vet but she's with someone else. Turns out he just might be a serial killer. If that doesn't catch your attention, I don't know what will. I was hear for it. Two things I love; romance and true crime. While the story is a bit of a slow burn, there's so much going on between the ranch, the neighboring ranchers and the possible killer that you're not bored waiting for something to happen. I actually loved the buildup of Maddox and Andie's relationship. It felt authentic. There's a few plot twists but I've thing that bugs me is that they never found out the whodunnit with the horses part. So I'm curious if it's who I think it was or we're just to assume it was that person. I really wish that was specifically mentioned. But, all in all I thought this was a really good book.

Sexy, Sweet, and Suspenseful!

I’d read The Perfect Game series by Christy and really enjoyed it. So, when Texas Orchids came up on sale, I felt confident buying it. Boy…was it a great decision!

Maddox, a city boy who in his late twenties has a great work ethic, but no clear path that’s his passion, comes to Texas to oversee his grandmother’s beloved Devil’s Horn Ranch after her death. Andie, the girl Maddox met briefly at the ranch when he was 15, is now an equine veterinarian who devotes a large part of her time to the ranch’s vast equine program. Their journey to an HEA includes former boyfriends, hard work and devotion, the cut throat side of ranching, a kindly grandfather, a mischievous younger cousin, and the FBI. I appreciate that Maddox, as well as the men at Devil’s Horn Ranch and most of the men in this story were truly good men. Texas was well-represented in Christy’s work, which I appreciate as a born and bred Texas myself. Christy wrote a great epilogue for Texas Orchids…and that’s the finishing touch to a great romance for me!

Narration was excellent! With such a great narrating duo, I was so glad the Texas accents weren’t overdone or exaggerated. Perfection!

The story of Maddox and Andie follows a previous series, The Mitchell Sisters. I can’t wait to finish the current series and then read the previous one! I highly recommend Texas Orchids! Well worth a credit, for sure!

City boy turned cowboy

Maddox’s story was bound to be epic! I love that he & Andie met briefly as teenagers & that moment defined their lives so completely. His need to protect her was so fierce. And she was an absolute rock when it came to situations she was uncomfortable with. There was a lot asked of her often, but she soldiered through.
I am so glad that they were able to save Vivian’s life’s work of Devil’s Horn Ranch & for Maddox to find his calling in life.
Can’t wait for the next!

Jason Clarke’s narration is always *chef’s kiss* perfect. I love his voice & deep timber. Erin Mallon knocked it out of the park

Finding Your Place & Your Person

Christy's descriptions include well developed characters and the ability to capture ranch life. This suspenseful romance covers alot of territory before Andie & Maddox are able to find their HEA.
Good narration makes for an enjoyable ride!

Angsty Suspenseful Treat- With Amazing Heat!

One of the beautiful things about getting to know the kids in a series is seeing them all grown up and getting their own HEAs. And in Texas Orchids, Samantha Christy brings Maddox McBride (next gen from The Mitchell Sisters series) his perfect HEA while also setting up a fantastic new series to fall in love with.

The very first Samantha Christy book I ever read was Purple Orchids, the love story of Gavin and Baylor McBride, and I fell down a wonderful rabbit hole with that book. So, getting to fall in love with another incredible Christy series through their son Maddox and his heroine, equine vet Andie Shaw, was a true treasure. True to form, Christy made me smile, laugh, cry, and scream at her characters and all of the trials and tribulations they go through to achieve their perfect happy ending. All of the angst, the suspense, the tension—100% worth it!

And hearing Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon bring this book to life was perfect. Their inflection, the emotions they infuse into their characters, and their ability to differentiate between characters is truly remarkable. And their voices were truly well suited to the characters themselves.

Christy does a fantastic job of infusing characters from Purple Orchids to build the setting and situation around Maddox and Andie, building on tensions readers are already heightened to, while creating a completely new set of circumstances for the family, and the main characters, to face. Add in an entirely new set of twists and turns for readers to sink their teeth into, and this is a fast-paced, edge of your seat, steamy romance that sets the stage for the new generation of Mitchell Sisters kids to find their romantic footing.

Texas Orchids can be read as a standalone novel, but also serves as the perfect starter for a new series.
