About this listen

As the winner of the 2010 Ironman Championship in Kona, Hawaii, Chris "Macca" McCormack may be the world's greatest athlete. In I'm Here to Win, McCormack shares his story, along with training tips and practical advice to help listeners develop their own routines, diet, exercise programs, and race strategies.

Chris McCormack has dedicated his life to training for - and winning - the Ironman World Championships, one of the most grueling tests of mental and physical endurance in the world. The race challenges athletes to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run a full marathon of 26.2 miles, all while battling harsh conditions and their own willpower. In 2010, McCormack won the Ironman World Championship for the second time at 37 years old - a testament to his fitness and endurance.

Macca's journey to athletic greatness is more than just one of physical perseverance. After coming in fourth in Hawaii last year, Macca returned to the island chanting, "I'm here to win!" He had a new mental game plan in place that brought him first across the finish line.

In this much-anticipated book, Macca shares his playbook and reveals everything it takes - mind, body, and spirit - to become a champion.

In addition to his Ironman wins in Hawaii, Macca holds the record for the most triathlon race wins ever and it's his winning strategies and mindset that he now brings to the listener in I'm Here to Win.

For weekend warriors who casually compete to seasoned veterans who race every weekend, armchair athletes looking for an extra push, and everyone in between,I'm Here to Win provides riveting insight into the mind of a great champion with excitement and inspiration in every minute.

The other side of Chris McCormack

I've always liked Macca. I know he was portrayed as being rude and egotistical but in this book you see the why behind it. Macca spoke at my first half Ironman in New Orleans. It was then I knew he wasnt how he was portrayed. There are some training tips but this is definitely not that kind of book. This book is perfect for the Macca fan or for someone who wants to have a glimpse into the other side of professional triathletes. The narrator was pleasant and easy to understand. I have more respect now for Macca than I ever have after hearing his story. LOVE IT!

Great way to pass the miles...

As a cyclist who spends many a ride scarfing down a new book, this one was purchased on a whim. Not really a fan of Triathlon, but knowing a tiny amount about "Macca" from seeing the 2010 edition of Kona Ironman on TV and the obvious rivalry portrayed, I thought this would be an interesting listen. Definitely the case. For anyone looking for a good personal story about going against the grain and achieving greatness this is an entertaining listen. At first the Aussie reader was a bit of an adjustment, but I settled in fine after a while and it's only fitting considering the source. In addition to a neat story, there are great tips and tid bits that will probably find me purchasing the hard copy to further review. Will definitely listen to this one again.

Fantastic insights

Fantastic insights into the mind and heart of a somewhat controversial champion.
The narrator came across as even more arrogant than the author but to some great dramatic effect.

great motivational story

If you could sum up I'm Here to Win in three words, what would they be?

Inspiring, bold, fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maca- he's got drive, talent, boldness, and a great sense of humor. Aussies make some of the best triathletes. They know how to have fun

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

yes, great narration- it moves with enthusiasm

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

to follow your dreams, like Chris did when he left the security of a job for the life of a pro and didn't have a clue what was going to happen next

Any additional comments?

Maca should come back to Kona and do another Ironman - he is great at any distance. Everyone experiences the heat, so it's an even playing field

A good view into a peak performing mind!

Would you listen to I'm Here to Win again? Why?

There are many skills that can be used in everyday life as well as in sports. But the most interesting thing is the view into a winning mindset and how Chris changes and adapts to keep peak performing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chris was the MAN! Because he accepts his shortcomings, uses them to his advantage and keep learning to KEEP peak performing!

Which scene was your favorite?

How he adapts and overcome his limitations to win his big race in 2010.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is not a part in the book that moved me but, the way he thinks - moves me!

Any additional comments?

A great book for professional athletes or anyone doing sports and wants to better them self. A good roll model of how to accept oneself and learn and develop.
