About this listen

Summer, 2059. A man wearing a cape and a top hat approaches a prostitute on a dark, New York City street. Minutes later, the woman is dead. Left at the scene is a letter addressed to Lieutenant Eve Dallas, inviting her to play his game and unveil his identity. He signs it, "Jack."

Now Dallas is in pursuit of a murderer who knows as much about the history of serial killers as she does. He has studied the most notorious and the most vicious slayings in modern times. But he also wants to make his own mark. And he has chosen his victim: Eve Dallas. And all Eve knows is that he plans to mimic the most infamous murderers of all - starting with Jack the Ripper.

evil imitation

A perp imitating serial killers pits himself against Dallas.
Peabody signs a lease with MacNab in Eve’s old building and takes the Detective test.
Meanwhile, Roarke has mixed results with an Ultra Mega grill following a BBQ at the Mira’s.
My favorite quote is from Eve to Nadine: ”bring the donuts; leave the camera”.
Ericksen does a great job of narration.

can't get enough of this series!

this is a hard one for eve. She comes up against a really nasty killer and it takes everything she has to take him down and still learn how to be comfortable with her growing circle. love her!!

Great, As Usual!

I was kept guessing on this one, never sure exactly who it was, which was a nice change from several previous ones.

Excellent

I continue to appreciate listening to Susan Ericksen narrating JD Robb's excellent futuristic police procedural based in New York City. Homicides in the future are as awful as in today's world (2021) and Eve Dallas, Roarke and crew work diligently to stop the killers. This time around someone is copying famous serial killers and taunting Eve with it. As I keep mentioning in my reviews, the dialogue between the police officers, the various personal relationships and between Eve and Roarke drive so much of the dynamic and emotion for me. Of course the plots are off the chart fascinating (to me) and even after reading all the stories in book format I still find myself fully drawn into the future times of the "In Death" series.

Good book

Good story. Story flowed nicely.
Don’t care for the voice narrator gave Peabody. Makes Peabody sound like a doofus

Enjoy not being able to figure out killer😄

Loved it from the start. Always like the prelude to each story something to ponder on while reading as well as title.
