Helpless women and baby focus

Tried out the novella and it helped to show this series is not for me. In such a short story, there’s heavy handed emphasis on trapped women, used merely as vessels. They wait passively until someone else frees them and then are revived by puppies and kisses. Yeah. Too much eyeroll for me.
Worse was the stilted narration. I just couldn’t.
