Publisher's summary

She was one of the most sought after women in the world. A top model who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted - even another woman's man. And now she was dead, the victim of a brutal murder. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas put her professional life on the line to take the case when suspicion fell on her best friend, the other woman in the fatal love triangle.

Beneath the façade of glamour, Eve found that the world of high fashion thrived on an all-consuming obsession for youth and fame. One that led from the runway to the dark underworld of New York City where drugs could be found to fulfill any desire - for a price.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Gripping futuristic detective and romance novel

Writing futuristic detective novels with a touch of romance is something Nora Roberts, with the pen name of J. D. Robb, has become very good at over the years. In this book, fierce homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas, with a troubled past, can hardly believe she's about to marry zillionaire Roarke, who had an equally difficult youth. But that becomes just a minor complication when she heads up a murder investigation with her best friend Mavis as the prime suspect. As one might expect, there are divided loyalties and unexpected plot twists, and the author keeps you guessing about the final outcome until the very end. This book is number 3 in a series of, as of 2020, 50 titles. If you haven't read or listened to numbers 1 and 2 in the series, Naked in Death and Glory in Death, you would do yourself a favour to start with these two titles first, before reading Immortal in Death. Nora Roberts as J. D. Robb does an outstanding job as the author of stories set in the mid 21st century, with only a few suppositions about the future having been proven wrong already, like the supposed use of fax machines in the 2040s and 2050s. Other than such minor incorrect guesses, she creates a very credible image of what American society could look like in that era. And her masterful creation of some very interesting characters the reader can quickly relate to, coupled with some very interesting plots, makes the books in this series gripping page turners. And this audio book was read very well, with some believable accents and character voices.

Steadfast Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The story was a good mystery. I didn't guess the end which is always worth a star. Even the side characters and potential suspects are well done. The two main characters envelop you into the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It didn't keep me on the edge of my seat. The story has enough build up, subtle twists and side stories.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does the characters, inflection, and pace so well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Dallas, her man, friends and murder

Any additional comments?

Just fun

Why Immortal?

I am far beyond the plot of the story!..

Flashbacks of Eve's past dragged the darkness out of forbidden places of my psych that I have been hiding for so long... Cries, pleas, and struggles of a little girl were surreal and shattered my want to believe perfect self...

What is the immorality? Is it a flashbacks that hunt us for the rest of our lives or the images of death that we won’t let go?

I love the ultimate intertwine of love, suspend, and psychology…

Another good one

Would you listen to Immortal in Death again? Why?

I have listened to it again. This is the second time I've bought it. I listen because the mystery is good and so is the romance in this one. I usually catch more about the story the second time around.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Immortal in Death?

When the killer reveals himself it is just as much a surprise to me as it was to Eve.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only listened to her threw this series. If someone else were to narrate the series idk if I would recognize or relate to the characters as well because her character voices don't change from book to book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No.

Any additional comments?

No.

Models are Plants Don't Mix

What did you love best about Immortal in Death?

There was more Mavis and she has fallen in love with the prefect guy for her. Also surprisingly I couldn't figure out who killed the models. When that it is shown then am like what. Then I feel really bad for one of the side characters who feel for him.

What other book might you compare Immortal in Death to and why?

Any that involve set up and models being needing to be skinner so they take a non safe drug to do so.

Which scene was your favorite?

the fight scene in the beginning when Eve knocks Pandora on her ass with one punch. And any moment when Eve and Roake are together. Or when Eve was made up by Trina the hairstyle. Eve cuts her own hair and so getting full body treatment was funny for me while terrible for her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Eve opens up about her past after she remembers. She has such a conflict going on about what to do about what she learned.
