About this listen

Empowered with the magic of luck, the Master has no equal. At her command, the Dark has devoured half the globe. Entire nations have been erased, continents have vanished, and billions are dead. The desperate survivors have joined a worldwide evacuation to the Americas. Their hope died when the Oracle fell.

Yet they do not yield.

Inspired by the Oracle's defiance, mankind has chosen to fight. For them to triumph, they require a weapon - one that now walks the Dark, forgotten and lost. Battling hordes of fiends, he seeks to escape the cloud. Instead he finds a young woman, one who has fallen from the sky. Both are believed to be dead, and when they return one thing is certain.

The whole of the Earth will feel the impact.

I very much enjoyed the first book. I got it as part of the white mage omnibus which at the time I assumed was the entire series. As it turns out there are three books in the omnibus and a total of five in the series . I Not usually one to complain about a series being too long. But in this case, it seems that the extra content just makes it drag on and on without actual resolution. I find myself impatient for an end. I believe this is because of the way the main enemy for so long is presented as omnipotent and seemingly unstoppable, with no attempt at forecasting any way she could be beaten. Obviously the heroes win in the end, but all of their virtues have either already been shown to be ineffective, or are COMPLETELY ignored as assets. (I am speaking here of the main characteristic of the heroine which makes her, supposedly, unique and pivotal, but which is never used even after being practiced a little and pointed out as crucial to success.) The combination of the obvious success at the end for the good guys and obvious insurmountability of the enemy does not make for compelling reading but rather tiresomeness. There is only so long you can stretch out, "Oh, no! The enemy is just too powerful, but we can't give up! We must fight on! "
Nevertheless I would, in general, recommend this series . Give it a try and see if it is for you because if you enjoy it there's a lot of content here with a nice mix of action some character development and eventual plot progression . I am going to listen to the final book , mostly because I would just like some resolution.

So good!!! Not too many storylines. They all merge nicely into an exciting book. This author needs to be more widely read. Can't wait for the next book.
