About this listen

A spy prince needs: a man who sees through his disguise.

Prince Benedict is not what he seems. His image as a lazy playboy is carefully constructed to hide the truth. Trained since childhood to become Rosavia's top spy, he spends his life in disguise - and danger - to protect his country. Nobody sees the loneliness in his heart.

Felix Wright is a genius with four degrees, no real-world experience, and a top-secret job...and he's never even been kissed. A lifetime of being alienated for his most valuable assets has left him reluctant to trust the charming prince who thrusts him into fieldwork for the very first time.

When the Crown Jewels are stolen two weeks before the royal ball, it's their job to save the country's reputation. Benedict helps Felix believe in himself, while Felix slowly coaxes the real prince out of hiding. But can they find the jewels and rescue the most priceless treasures of all: Each other?

Welcome to the tiny European country of Rosavia, where roses ramble over alpine slopes and princes fall for the men of their dreams. Every Rosavia Royals book happens simultaneously, so books can be read on their own, or in any order...but keep an eye out for familiar faces around the palace!

A secret mission

There was more to Prince Benedict than met the eye. From childhood he was trained to be more, but all in secret.
When he is teamed up with Felix, his secret mission gets all the more exciting.
This is an entertaining story, with a bit of espionage, a bond style prince, his assistant with a photographic memory and a passion between them that cannot be denied.

The narration was just okay for me. I felt at times like the story was just being read instead of being given the life it needed.
An enjoyable listen overall.

Royal Spies and Romance

I haven't read much royalty romance, so when given the chance, I requested a free review copy of this audiobook in order to give the sub-genre a try. This is a voluntary opinion of it now that I've finished it.

in this novel from the 'Rosavia Royalty' universe, Prince Benedict, raised from childhood to serve in his country's intelligence service meets Felix, a researcher also working with the government. They are assigned to a covert mission together, and fall in love.

Max Rowan has written a slow-burn, dislike-to-love, opposites-attract romance with a wonderful side of espionage, mystery and suspense. Both Benedict and Felix begin the story not really feeling like there is a place they belong. Once they spend time together on their mission, they start to believe that their places in life are with each other. A trust starts to grow between them, tested a few times, and end up with their HEA.

The main characters are relatable and likable. They both show character growth throughout the book. They are smart and capable, being able to handle the pressures on their way to love. I consider the story to be sweet even with the spy-themed co-plot.

Kieran Flitton's narration is wonderful. He expresses the emotions of the characters beutifully.

Recommended.

Fun listen

This is the only one I have read/listened to of the series though since I get the impression they run concurrently though written by different authors I will be going back for more. This is a new to me author and I really enjoyed the story it was light fun and a little different for a royal tale. It kept me interested and the espionage didn't take away from the romance though it's a little insta love but heck when you're dealing with a story about a prince well I just take it as it comes and let go of reality. This is also a new to me author and he really does an awesome job with the narration I thoroughly enjoyed this listen.

Excellent audiobook

This audiobook was absolutely amazing. I had already read, and loved, the book, but Kieran Flitton really brings life to the characters with his narration. I'm looking forward to hearing how he does with the other books in this series.

Great Spy Action Enemies to Lovers Romance 🌹

In His Court: Rosavia Royals Book Four ~by~ Max Rowan
MMy Thoughts Confession and Review:

Confession first: It took me getting past the prologue and first chapter before I found my groove with Rowan's writing style. Once that happened, however, it was a great Action RoMMance.

While I’ve only listened to three of the five books in the series so far, "In His Court," was different from the others in that it dealt with spies, some intriguing suspense, and cloak and dagger themes. There were a couple of twists I didn't see coming and I was always high fiving the air (because I can't EVER seem to get my cat to humor me) over those.

My favorite however was the low angst, high octane, "I wanna throat punch you, and kiss you madly... I may need therapy," themes. This was a fun enemies to lovers (my fave trope these days) romance. These guys didn't FALL in love, they grew in love, over time. Learning from each other, all the faults first, getting the worst out of the way, and being tested time and again helped lay a strong foundation for what was important to them as individuals and a couple... If they didn't kill each other first. 🤣

For a book that had me worried I may have found a prince of Rosavia who wasn't very Charming, Ben proved he wasn't such a DIC-tator after all. No, Felix had another, more appropriate, name for Specialist-Six that rhymed with "pass go." In the end, it's amazing the words we can say with love and affection, that we would never allow another to mutter to the one(s) we love. **giggle... All in the name of love.

Bond and Q

Prince Benedict has been trained since childhood to be a spy. Even most of his family don't realize what he is up to. He is introduced to the new Quarter Master, Felix, and it is like being struck by lightning. Having to go on mission together to recover the stolen crown jewels gives them the opportunity to get to know each other and learn each other's strengths and little bit about their own as well. I really enjoyed this story and am listening to the rest of the series now. Getting to know each of these princes and their matches will be quite an adventure.

Love me a good adventurous MM romance!

I must confess: before listening to In His Court, book 4 of the Rosavia Royals series, I ended up reading the whole series after I finished book 1. So when I received an audio review for In His Court, the story of Prince Benedict and Felix, I was all over it!

In His Court is the story of our young Prince Benedict, who we are led to believe that he's this carefree playboy but we find out that he's really an undercover spy for Rosavia! What I appreciated is the bits of information that is shared about how he's been trained since childhood and how in truth, he really just wants what his brothers have; someone who knows the real him and loves him regardless. In the beginning, an almost near death experience has him contemplating if living a dangerous lie is worth the emptiness he feels in his heart, but alas, Prince Benedict will do anything to protect his country, even work with the young, attractive genius Felix Wright!

Enter, the answer to Prince Benedict's missing puzzle piece: Felixz Wright. Felix isn't just a genius, he's the recipient of four degrees before the age of 24! However, he has no clue how to socialize, make friends and lacks real world experience (still a virgin!), so it's no wonder he's on the defense when Benedict teases his position and their assigned highly confidential assignment! Mission: to save Rosvia's Crown Jewels before the Royal Ball!

I loved the banter between Felix and Benedict, their chemistry, and the almost slow burn. It's refreshing when the characters have to work for their HEA. can be read as a stand-alone (minimal spoilers) but I suggest to read in order, it's a sweet and pleasant series so you won't be disappointed. This is my first listen from Kieran Flitton and he was wonderful! I love when narrators have an accent, it just makes the listening experience more enjoyable and real! He also made sure to differentiate between Benedict and Felix, which is a huge plus for me.
Overall, the story and performance are five star worthy, so if you're looking for a sweet MM romance with sexy banter between a prince and genius, mild level dangerous missions, secret identities, stolen jewels and a royal ball, In His Court will meet your needs. Happy listening all!

It was okay.

There was action and adventure and suspense. It was fun and well written. The protagonists however, just blah. The character development felt very forced and rushed. I have mixed feelings about the narrator. On the one hand his voice is pleasant. On the other hand the way he read Benedict made him sound like some cheesy B movie actor trying to be overtly sexy. That irritated me enough to throw me out of the story. Overall it was an okay listen. If I had purchased this book with my own credit I would be returning it. It is not worth a second listen.
