Publisher's summary

Wilkins, a conservative soldier, gets the shock of her life upon her first meeting with Johnson, an overly liberal journalist from San Antonio. Johnson is blunt, loud, and kind of cute but nevertheless, the exact opposite of quiet, rule-bound Wilkins. Johnson, who happens to be best friends with Wilkins' superior, Tech Sergeant Ian Morris, ends up falling head over heels for the modest sergeant, and upon learning the nature of Johnson's feelings, Wilkins tries her best to avoid the extraverted woman, knowing that if she gives in to the promised affection, her job title and reputation will be compromised. However, when Johnson is assigned to do an undercover story about life as an Air Force trainee and is asked to reside in the dormitories as a trainee, all chaos breaks loose. Wilkins ends up having to choose between love and her responsibility as a soldier, knowing that her choice may have a lasting effect on the rest of her life.

Was a good read

Like this story and the narration was pretty good. Lots of intrigue and mystery that gets partially resolved. Need to find the next one though cause it ends on one hell of a cliffhanger.

Difficult to follow story

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

I found this audiobook very difficult to get into in the beginning. The story jumps around a lot, which you later find out are flashbacks for one of the characters. With the way the story was narrated, it was difficult to know when one section ended and another began. There was very little pause time between sections to identify each as a separate part. I had to skip back several times because I got lost in what was going on due to this.

The story was ok, but the military references seemed unrealistic when compared to other depictions of military life. I venture to say that if any cadet spoke back to a ranking officer the way one of the main characters did, she would have received severe punishment. It just felt fake and took away from the story.

Loved It!

This is a F/F story. This book was a ying and yang story. I loved the characters and the storyline. I can't wait to see what happens next.

not plausible, hard to listen to

start with unrealistic military base operations, a lifeless narration, some less-than-compelling dialog and the result is two stars.
whether it was content or delivery that irked me most is unclear but the combination made it difficult to finish.

Very Hot and Very well written...

I really enjoyed listening to this well written little book. Sometimes books like this focus solely on the sex, and the story line and characters suck. Not the case here. I really enjoyed the story. You could remove all of the sex and the book would still have a great story line. The sex is just the icing on the cake. I also the the narrator did an excellent job. Defiantly a great little book!

This book was given to me at my request. I am providing a voluntary and honest review:

Got this for free

Hated the narrator which means I couldn’t get into the book. I never finished it due to the narrator. She had no emotions and all she did was read. I look for acting which is so important since we don’t have faces to go by. Get a better narrator please.

Great story until the end.

This was a great story and I could not believe the end. Why? Why end a good love story so violently?

Romance with potential

This story is quite short. It was a fun listen with interesting characters and an intriguing plot idea. Two women with entirely different views and beliefs coming together and learning to understand each others point of view.
I enjoyed the characters and the premise of how they meet and how they were forced together. I felt there were some inconsistencies with their relationship like there were missing scenes or interactions that made it feel a bit jumbled. I felt that sometimes the emotional connections were so well done at some points and then confusingly lacking at others.
I really liked the plot idea but certain plot points were never properly utilized and it made it sometimes confusing.
The main Lillian’s reveal and aftermath felt emotionless and fell flat for me.
This narration had a bit of an echo and there were some parts that were read to quickly or pauses were missing. But she had a nice voice that was easy to listen to.
I enjoyed this story even with its flaws and feel like there is a lot of potential.

Enjoyable

This book is very gritty. It had me gripped from the very beginning. Lots going on in this non stop action packed book. Great narration from Emmalyn.
