About this listen

There’s a smokin’ hot dead guy locked in my garden shed.

That part’s bad enough. But now, he’s trying to get out.

Growing up, my father always told me that I’d come to a bad end, just like my mom did when I was a kid. Hearing that kind of shit when you’re little eventually gets to a girl, but I can’t say I ever expected my "bad end" to involve an angry vampire with a severe case of iron deficiency and a panty-melting English accent.

Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Ever since my mother was assassinated, I’ve felt like there was something vast and frightening hidden beneath the fabric of the world. Something none of us are supposed to know about.

So far, finding out I was right hasn’t been nearly as satisfying as I’d hoped. I guess the trick will be staying alive long enough to shout ‘I told you so’ from the rooftops.

But before I can do that, I really need to figure out if the vampire who just bit me is one of the good guys or not.

The Last Vampire is a steamy new urban fantasy romance series from USA Today Bestseller R. A. Steffan and Jaelynn Woolf, co-authors of the Circle of Blood saga.

Grab the omnibus of Books 1-3 today, and enter a world shared by humans, fae, demons, and one very reluctant vampire. It’s a place where the supernatural threatens the mundane, nothing is as it seems, and love will either be the world’s downfall - or its salvation.

A vampire and a starving succubus meet in St Louis

This is a rollicking tale of Ransley, the last vampire, and Zorah, a young woman who thinks she has an auto-immune disease only to discover she's a succubus. It's a big deal for Zorah to learn the world and her part in it is not what she thought it was.

All in one omnibus edition you get great chase scene; danger and intrigue with demons, fae, and the last vampire (clever title, that); travels across realms; and the inventive sex scenes readers/listeners have come to expect from Steffan and Woolf. Druyor as the voice of the series is in fine form. Her Rans is particularly fun.

Get this. In one affordable volume, you won't miss a lick. It mixes up lore in a new and fun way without letting the pace get flabby. The heroine of the story realizes her own worth and grows from a weakling in book 1 to a force to be reckoned with by the end of book 3.

Cool, dangerous, steamy adventure!

Narrator did a good job; overly dramatic at times, but a quality performance. She does make the lead character sound clueless and a bit annoying, but I kind of think that’s how the character actually is, so it works. Overall, I enjoyed the listen!

This set features the first 3 books of this series and does end in a cliffhanger, so you’ll need to read the next books for the full story. I believe the series goes up to 6 books.

I went back and forth between a 3 and a 4 rating; I ended up going with a 4 because I was entertained the whole time. Plus, I really enjoy the overall premise for the story, woman finds out she’s not all human, and finds herself dealing with vampires and fae. Turns out that there are those in the paranormal world that don’t appreciate what type of paranormal she is, so she’s in tons of danger. Zorah, the woman whose POV this whole story is in, finds herself fumbling along trying to survive this new crazy paranormal world she finds herself in. Zorah has many problems to deal with; lots of dangerous individuals out to get her. Zorah’s actions tend towards the not so smart variety. She doesn’t plan, she just acts, which leads to many more problems for her. Zorah can be annoying, but I do appreciate that she has a good heart and is willing to go above and beyond for those she cares about. Luckily, vampire Rans helps her out. All of that is a cool setup! What didn’t quite pull me in to the story was: the story does move a bit too slow at times; I wanted more action, but does pick up as the series goes on. Also, I’m not a fan of stories featuring the type of paranormal Zorah is; makes the story too sexually focused for my liking and the romance doesn’t have the depth of emotion that I prefer, the romance is more of a lust type of thing. Also, I prefer more sensual, passionate love scenes rather than scenes that are more on the raunchy side. The romance does develop as the series progresses, and I do enjoy the connection between Rans and Zorah. I’m interested to see where the story goes, so I’ll continue on. The overall story ideas are fun and interesting!

Suggest Reading, Not the Audio

Storyline is strong if you can get passed the horrible narration, she sounds like a little girl, over all i suggest Reading in print.

Good Book, Bad Narration!!

The story was ok. But I didn't care for the narrator at all....I believe the narration would have been done much better by Tavia Gilbert. Couldn't move onto book 2 with the same narrator sorry to say but the book is worth the read otherwise.

Interesting!

This was a very interesting take on the paranormal, I would think vampire but there's so much more with fairies and demons also. The book had the perfect narrator too, I have heard a few books done by this narrator she's excellent for this one, she does a great job. All in all without spoiling the story it was really good and you will need the next story because everything leads into the next book, loved it!
