When the dive team is called in to recover a body from a submerged car, they aren't prepared to find an encrypted laptop - or an unsettling connection between investigator Adam Campbell and the dead accountant.

Adam turns to his friend Dr. Sabrina Fleming - a professor at the local university with unparalleled computer security and forensics skills - to recover the files from the laptop. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier the investigation becomes. When evidence uncovers a human trafficking ring and implicates members of Adam's own family, he and Sabrina will have to risk everything to solve the case.

The truth could set hundreds free, but someone is willing to do whatever it takes to silence anyone who threatens to reveal their secrets.

Award-winning author Lynn H. Blackburn invites listeners back to Carrington, North Carolina, where everything is not as it seems and sinister elements lurk behind the idyllic façade.

I liked this book more than the 1st book. The twist and turns were well written.

Great story

I love when I discover a new author, at least, new to me. I enjoyed this book more than the first because this narrator, Kitty Hendrix, did an excellent job! This story was very well written and suspenseful. A keeper, for me!

Excellent!

Gabe"s mexican accent was horrible. Nearly ruined the book. I live in El Paso TX and the accent wasn't even close.

Good Story-Pathetic Accent

So the story was amazing. I couldn’t stop listening. I love this series so much. The friendships, the suspense, the budding romance, and especially the Biblical principles of God’s love, faith, and forgiveness. However, I did not like the way the reader portrayed Gabe. First of all, the accent didn’t even sound Mexican. And why did he have to have an accent, anyway? Just because he had a Mexican last name? Just a thought. Anyway, other than that, I loved the story. Can’t wait for the next one.

Humorous, Heartfelt, Suspenseful, and Inspirational!

I hadn’t vetted this title carefully so found myself surprised when the characters suddenly prayed for e.g. discernment or courage. I’ve never seen that in a book before, but found it interesting.

The American South is a very different world from mine and I stayed with it even through the cringe-inducing naïveté of the main characters.

The rescue of the victims of people-smuggling was gripping, as were the complex family dynamics. Even adult children said ‘yes sir’ and ‘yes ma’am’ to their parents - I have no idea if that detail was realistic or not.

It was a fascinating glimpse into a parallel existence but I wouldn’t read another of the same genre. The narration was excellent.

Good - if you can accept the elements of a Southern Christian worldview
