About this listen

This is one case that has haunted Jonathan Stride for 30 years. In the summer after his junior year of high school, he fell in love with Cindy Starr, the girl who would become his wife. But that same summer, Cindy's sister, Laura, was brutally murdered. The police suspected a vagrant of committing the crime, but Stride and Cindy were both convinced that the killer was someone close to Laura.

Thirty years later, Laura's best friend, Tish Verdure, returns to Duluth to write a book about Laura's death. Tish knows secrets about Cindy that leave Stride questioning his entire past.

NO MOUNDS!!!!!

Cant believe I’m writing these words but I don’t think there were any mounds at all. There were definitely hands steepled but no mounds.

Great Thriller

In the audible, I wish the female voice was female sounding, but that can be overlooked. Even though I figured out who the murder was, .the story at the end fits it all together very well

Kept me guessing!

I enjoyed this one and looking forward to reading others in the series! Some of the women’s voices though a bit rough!

Good, however……

Good story. Narration was good except for Maggie’s voice….. Good thing she was not a major character!

What a book!!!

This is the first book I’ve read by Brian Freeman and it blew me away. I had to make myself put it down so I could get some of my daily chores done. It grabbed me in the first chapter and kept me craving for more until I finished. You won’t regret taking the time to read.

Narrator

The female narrator was really not good. She did not need to announce the title of the book or author each time. Her voice was hard to listen to. Luckily she didn't read more than she did or it would have been hard to finish the book.

Great story, mediocre performance

I loved the storyline, plot, and the numerous twists and turns. The performance was distracting as the male voice tried to imitate a female voice whenever a female was speaking. I would have rather heard the reader just use his regular voice, as it was hard to imagine the female characters being put together as described when he spoke for them.

I wouldn’t let it stop me from downloading this book, though.

Always Great Plot Twists

Jonathan Stride is an interesting character. The narrator, with his gravely voice, definately gives us the visual of who Johnny is! I enjoy getting to know the characters, although I had this one figured out half way though. As usual, he adds that extra zinger at the end!
