About this listen

Bezalel is a Hebrew slave to Ramses II. An artisan of the highest order, Ramses has kept him in the palace even when all other Israelites have been banned. Bezalel blames El Shaddai for isolating him from his people.

When Moses and Aaron appear one summer, and El Shaddai shakes Egypt to its core, Bezalel must reexamine his anger.

Over the course of the next year, Bezalel's life becomes intertwined with those of an Egyptian child-slave, the captain of the guard, and especially a beautiful young concubine.

When spring arrives, all of them escape with the young nation of Israel. But that's only the beginning.

Lifetime Prep for a Great Task

Narrator's pace, timing and voice were excellent!!
This is a well detailed story of how one man was given a lifetime prep for a great Task! Taken from his family as a child, Betzalel served in Egypt as a sculptor/jeweler for Pharaoh. When people are rushed, forced into perfection no matter how small the task, and kept to a continuous schedule without much, if any, appreciation shown to them, they learn a special kind of discipline and self propelled creativity that is hard to emulate. Many such people learn to resent how they are treated, especially because other people who have no concept of what they really do, only see that the person is being "singled out!" So jealousy just makes things harder for the one being harshly pushed already by their taskmasters. It would be easy to resent what is seen as a Lack of protection by YHWH. However, everything in life is somehow being used to prepare us for a greater purpose. Those who purposefully fall away are weeding themselves out!! Add Exodus plagues into the mix and you have this story!

Only real complaint...why is Michael still Michael?

Excellent Historical Fictional

only problem was the fact of Children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, not just a few years. Love the way the book brings this time honored account in the Old Testament in a more personal way for this fictional family.

Simply Beautiful!

I got this book on a whim halfway expecting to be disappointed. Boy, was I wrong! You know the old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"? That applies doubly with this title.

Not only was the behind the scenes look into life for the 12 tribes - in captivity - insightful ...but the tenderness of God's love for His children was communicated so beautifully.

What an amazing book!

Good Read

Another fictional recount of biblical history. I found it at times just to much imagination. I am sure that someone else might enjoy that part. Overall it was well written and interesring.

Diminished

I felt the explanations of the miracles of God diminished them. Also Pesach was not celebrated until the night of Passover. To suggest otherwise is an offense to me. It is not scriptural.
