About this listen

Contains the complete Mars trilogy.

Book 1

NASA finally made it. The very first human has just set foot on the surface of our neighbor planet. This is the start of a long research expedition that sent four scientists into space. But the four astronauts of the NASA crew are not the only ones with this destination. The privately financed "Mars for Everyone" initiative has also targeted the Red Planet. Twenty men and women have been selected to live there and establish the first extraterrestrial settlement.

No one anticipates the impending catastrophe that threatens their very existence, not to mention the daily hurdles that an extended stay on an alien planet sets before them. On Mars, a struggle begins for limited resources, human cooperation, and just plain survival.

Book 2

A woman presumed dead fights her way through the hostile deserts of Mars. With her help, the NASA astronauts orphaned on the Red Planet hope to be able to solve their very worst problem. But their hopes are shattered when an unexpected menace arises and threatens to destroy everything the remnant of humanity has built on the planet. They need a miracle - or a ghost from the past whose true intentions are unknown.

Book 3

Does the secret of Mars lurk beneath the surface of its south pole? A lone astronaut searches for clues about the earlier inhabitants of the Red Planet. Meanwhile, Rick Summers, having assumed the office of Mars City's Administrator by deceit and manipulation, tries to unify the people on Mars with the weapons under his control. Then, Summers stumbles upon so powerful an evil that even he has no means to overcome it.

Worth a listen.

The first book got me hooked. Great pace and a very interesting story. The second book was just dragging along with a bunch of unneeded dialog. The third book was great but felt rushed at the end.

Good story

Good story. Not the most realistic, but enough twists and turns to keep you interested. I give it an 8.5 out of 10. Worth a listen!

Great listen!

Loved all three books. We thought the very ending was weak. It could have ended a few minutes earlier.

Has moments of greatness, but pretty blah.

I’m an avid audible listener and listen to a ton of sci fi. These books have some great ideas behind them but the path to the end kinda sucks. I felt myself thinking about other things and having to rewind the books a lot because I was tuning them out. At other times I was really intrigued by what was going on. It was worth the listen, but I’m definitely returning it and getting something else.

Love the setting and the story, don’t love the anti-gay, anti-independent women, pro-authoritarian undertones

I’d say the author himself is a mix of Rick, Ava , and Lance. And not in a good way.

I love the setting and the interesting science.

That everyone just assumes the earth is dead is complete nonsense. Human denial, and hope are very strong. There’s no way three independent groups that large would all just accept “earth is gone”.

Big holes in the story

There are a few big gaps in the story that detract from the overall narrative.

Enjoyable with many twists

This was an enjoyable experience, and I would enjoy hearing what happens next. There is certainly potential for more content. I see other reviewers complain that they «sort of got to hear what happened to earth». But this story isnt about earth, it’s about what happened to the people on Mars. I don’t feel like there is lacking plots, but would love to explore the characters more. Especially Eva.

Quite good and entertaining

Was a good few books, a slow burn reading experience which is fine with me but maybe not as high octane as others would want

decent scifi

there's definitely a fair amount of filler in this book. there's some side missions that go on too long and have too many chapters rambling on about them. but for the most part it's martian-esque. So if you liked the Martian then some parts of this book may appeal to you. it definitely goes off the rails with some aliens ancient technology and Earth losing communication and all technology. but I get why the author did that he had to build a vehicle for drama in the story that was permanent that they couldn't do anything about. but the facts of the matter is it's highly unlikely that a technology failure would cause everyone on Earth to die which is what the main character is think happened. I mean there's just too many people and too many ways to live. without technology. anyway I still enjoyed it and I still recommend it it's a fun book don't listen to the haters

Loved it!

Made for a great road trip listen! Not as predictable as I expected so it kept me interested to the end.
