Good and bad

Yes! The nasal thing was MADDENING! I can’t believe they didn’t have a read-over. Also, she wasn’t “feeling” Sierra - she was very...dry, and emotionless. When she did express emotion, she was fake sounding, or whiney sounding. It was a great story over all, I did like it, even though as another Review said, “She expressed her desperation for the Pulitzer and would even sleep her way there if she had to...” I think the redivide that said “He forgave her way to easily...” was a little too harsh. And the review that said “There was a weird irrelevant obsession with this Don character...” HE WAS HER BOSS, Her Father figure, the person who believe in her and encouraged her career and success - nothing wrong with that. I don’t like how quickly the end came together, how the Thor just started spouting off “happy ending” details all thrown in one paragraph, when the author EASILY could have made a sequel...I mean, soooo many possibilities. Children (eventually....but not so rushed, maybe near the end of the second book) or, Don could’ve sent another reporter after she demanded he never do that, or she could’ve been bitten during the squabble with the bear and turned to a bear shifter, and Don could’ve turned the story in thinking if the shifters world ended that he’d have his precious colleague back, not knowing she had turned or whatever. I also think Don let her go too easy, and would’ve pushed harder or tried harder to persuade her not to give up the Story/Pulitzer. But overall I think it was better then most reviews gave it credit for! I love the Idea of the story, and I love the Island part of it, because I too live on an island and that’s why I listen to so many audibles. But it’s bothering me because I spend sooo much money, listening while I work Landscaping, and I write reviews for every book, and people are getting free books/credits for reviews, anyone know how I can get this great privilege?! I have all my badges! My name is Emily Tripp, please get ahold of me in Facebook or Snap Chat, I’m from Maine. But yes, AUDIBLE, GET ANOTHER READER PLEASE. Haha, this one should be disqualified! It ruined it. Made me very edgy.

Had potential

I was disappointed, I've read other books by Ellie Valentina and I was expecting a better than average paranormal romance, instead this was below average.

Sierra is supposed to be a good journalist which means she should be smart and logical but she doesn't seem to be capable of making intelligent decisions, I wanted to shake her at times to see if that would kick start her brain, her actions were painful to listen to at times.

And Paul, he supposed to be an alpha with trust issues but he believes everything Sierra says without question, I found this hard to believe.

The story line had potential but it didn't deliver.

The narration wasn't much better, the character voices were disappointing, they were difficult to tell apart and didn't seem to be consistent. The overall deliver wasn't great either, there were all these odd pauses mid sentence that made no sense and interrupted the flow of the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Infiltrating the Alpha

Sierra is an investigative reporter looking for her big break. When she’s given the opportunity to go undercover to break a big story she takes it, but is it really what she wants for herself? To tell the truth I had a hard time, ethically, accepting what Sierra was planning to do, but I stuck with the story to see where it would go, and I’m glad I did. I was happy to see the growth that Sierra underwent as she found her was to what she truly wanted for her life.

Interesting premise, disappointing execution.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Paul. He is a little too perfect. I would have liked him to have some flaws or characteristic. I did like that he had a rough side but it wasn't explored much.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have liked the book to surprise me a little. I knew early on where this book was headed plot-wise but kept hoping for it to have a twist on the liar revealed trope. I would have also liked if Paul had not forgiven Sierra so easily.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Simone Gayuma?

I would.

Do you think Infiltrating the Alpha: A Thrilling Paranormal Romance needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think this is best as a standalone.

Any additional comments?

This is not a bad book. It's enjoyable in some area but could have been elaborated more in some area and less in other(Don is an interesting character but we honestly hear more about him than we do about Paul!)

Favorite scene: The part after Paul learn the truth and they have angry Sex. Second serving, please!

My Thoughts on Infiltrating the Alpha

I'm all for an author's different spin on the shifter world. And the narrator did a pretty decent job although there were times in the beginning especially when there were multiple characters in the room that I don't feel she gave enough distinction to the different voices or weird pauses in the narration through out. But in the end, as much as I love shifter books, and despite the ok efforts of the narrator, I just couldn't ever really click with this story. The leading lady Sierra wasn't likeable for me. And for a romance story I feel like I should want her to be happy, but I didn't really. I couldn't get passed her reasons for pursuing the leading man Paul in the first place. I'm supposed to believe she's falling in love with him, but it's hard to like a character or find her love to be genuine when she's lying to him at the same time and for such mercenary reasons. And Paul being so trusting, even after his history was hard to believe.

There were some other little things that stuck out for me and pulled me out of the story along the way with the writing, and those along with disliking the leading lady made this book unenjoyable for me.

Alpha Paranormal Romance

Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres. The story had a lot of potential but it never really sucked me in. I kept getting distracted and having to listen to a few sections multiple times.

Narration was ok. It was not very easy to distinguish between characters. There were also odd pauses during the narration.

For someone who was supposed to be smart, Sierra surely acted quite irrational at times. She had been betrayed several times and yet has no problem hurting someone else.

Paul was a bit too trusting. He was burned before and totally believes everything Sierra says. I would have liked a little bit more character development on him.

The story wraps up with a HEA conclusion.

Le sigh...

I received this book because I requested it in exchange for an hones review.

To be hones I DNF this book and I tried really, really hard to.

I just cannot deal with this book. I am completely annoyed with this book and I do not understand the premise of this book. I get that she is a reporter but the fact that she is whoring herself out for a story is not okay. I have never liked books that treat sex as a commodity this is what the book is about.

A Werewolf Love Story

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Lovers of the shape shifters' genre will definitely love this story. It has all of the expected characteristics of similar books, including handsome wolf men, a worshipped heroine, and even villains you want to hate. It is the fantastical turned into reality if you just could let go of the nagging feeling of what reality should really be.
The interpretation was good, but after a while I noticed that the narrator, seemed to either have a head cold or sinus issues, as I kept hearing this nasal sound that was in fact a little distracting to me. That said, she was great interpreting the various characters.
I do recommend listening to this audiobook.

Not for me

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book was not very enjoyable for me. It was very cliche and the characters were shallow and uninteresting. This was complicated by narration full of ill timed dramatic pauses. At least I THINK the pauses were for dramatic effect.... Either way, they just made for awkward listening.
