About this listen

New town, new school. Same story. I'm Laura, I've spent most of my life crisscrossing the county yielding to the whims of my transient mother. We've never stayed in one place long enough to call it home, and I don't have any hope of that changing.

I follow the rules; no drawing attention to myself, no friends, and especially, no boys.

But my mom's been keeping secrets - secrets so profound they threaten to turn my world upside down. I've always assumed her paranoia was a symptom of a mental illness, but as her secrets begin to unravel, I realize nothing is what it seems.

As my life careens out of control, a group of guys from school promise to give me answers about who I really am. I'm afraid of what I might learn, but more afraid of what I could be giving up if I don't listen.

Contains mature themes.

Mostly Good

I’ve read this book before and liked it. The narration was not very good. The mispronunciation of main character names was difficult to hear like nails on a chalkboard. The voices she used were not the way they were described and mostly monotonous. Hard to tell characters apart from each other because of her voice.

Annoying MC

I’m not usually super picky about characters but geez this one really bugged me. She was so whiney and insecure in herself, and it gets old fast. I’m interested to see where the story goes because not much happens in the first book. I did purchase the second one with hopes that her character gets less annoying and cringe worthy.

The book was padded the idea is interesting

A lot of reviews were about how annoying the MFC seemed to be. With the back story and her mother… let’s say the crazy rubbed off. She reacted exactly how someone who grew up in that situation would react. She will seem emotionally immature because of this as well as not be able to make up her own mind or trust people.

What I disliked the most was the clearly padded content, yes I will be reading the rest because curiosity and hope that she grows more. Same with the guys, I understand them trying to use kid gloves in the beginning. Wasn’t fantastic but also wasn’t bad.

New direction

I have a lot of questions, but I really enjoyed this book. A very independent female lead. She grew up like a lone wolf and now has to come to terms that is no longer the case. Her mother went missing and it is still unknown why. What’s up with the house mate Mia and then there is Delaney. I love the pig pile sleeping arrangement. Still wondering what is the purpose of an ‘Infinity.’

A story of AMBIGUITY!

Book one of this series has a good story line, but the complete ambiguity throughout the book is annoying! A synergy is much like a "True Mate" and most are very sexual beings, but there is NO sizzle in book one. Instead, you get allot of making out, which is unrealistic for "Mates"

The narration for the women is fine, but all the guys sound like Alvin and the Chipmonks!

I will go onto book 2 in this series, however I am hoping we can now speed it up to further the storyline, show some sizzle and let's cut out all the what if's, almost went there, blah blah blah!!!

A Wonderful RH World

This was actually the first rh book I had ever read. Since that first reading, I have read this series 4 more times. I love Albany’s style of writing and the depth that she gives to her characters. Ares is my favorite too. Just have to say it!!! This is a must read story. You will be so glad that you did! Heather is also amazing! 5 stars ⭐️ for sure.

Good start to series

This is a slow burn but good start to the series. I like the world building and am looking forward to see what happens next.

A good read brought to audio perfectly.

This is a favorite why choose PNR romance series of mine. I've read through twice and wanted a comfort listen. The narrator does not disappoint!

Book one starts it off with our FMC struggling with a tiny rented trailer and an unstable mother. New girl at a new school trope. There is some OW drama, but no bullying from the MMCs. Just constant miscommunication as she has no idea what she actually is to him. This book is their introduction and it's a winner!

Well done bringing it to life. Wish it was a movie or series!
