About this listen

The only way to escape is to die.

For 18 years I've suffered at the hands of the Hunters. For 18 years they've done their best to break me, to tear me open and unleash the terrifying monster that lives within.

Until the day they go too far.

When a desperate escape leads to another brush with death, I'm forced to place my trust in the hands of four formidable strangers. Wild and untamed, their feral natures call to me, their warrior hearts make mine come alive. And when they offer me a place to stay while I heal, I can't say no.

But the secrets I carry are deadly, and my past is a twisted, evil nightmare better left forgotten.

They may think they want to know me, they may think the secrets they guard behind hard eyes and closed expressions comes close to the ones I keep. But should they ever discover just who they've let into their home, just what I really am...their hatred could be the one thing that finally breaks me. And if I break, the darkness inside me will finally be free.

Contains mature themes.

great story

I've heard a lot of good things about this book. It is a great story and makes you feel for each of the characters. Very slow burn but totally worth it for the depth of the storyline. The dual narrators are great, I love the accent for Ruarc and don't even mind when they have to do the opposite sex voices. all in all, 5 stars all around.

Great Listen!!

I loved reading the book and I was just as impressed with the narrators for the audible version. I love how they brought the characters to life. The accents were okay but it didn’t take away from how much I love hunted!! ❤️❤️❤️

Engaging storyline, but a wee issue with accents

I read the Kindle and enjoyed it SO MUCH (Binged the first and second in the series in a week!) I just had to get the audiobook too. The world building Erica has done, the authentic struggle of healing from tauma, and steamy slow burn is FANTASTIC.

The voice actors do a great job of bringing the emotion to the scenes, and giving each character their own voice. But, having been to Scotland, I felt like the accent for Ruarc was a bit... off. It took me a few days to put my finger on it, but they both make him sound more Russian, than Scottish. Which is hilariously impressive as I feel Russian accents are significantly more challenging than Scottish ones. 🤣 However, it's still great.

Do yourself a favor and get this now (and read the Kindle version of the second book since it hasn't been made into an audiobook yet) and just pretend Ruarc is from Russia and you'll be fine!

Loved it but frustrating....

i absolutely loved this book loved the character development loved the narrator everything... but there was one thing that was hard to stand it was that the book really didn't go anywhere and for a 22 hour book you would think it would go somewhere. yea you need the character development but this got nearly obsessive with what seemed to be the same lines over and over again to the point the book just seemed to drawn on and on.. here's to hoping that book two will be better. but sad to say I don't have much hope.

Overall very good

performance was good, although could've been a 5. Isabelle's performance was outstanding, as was Aiden's, with a huge HOWEVER. Aiden's deep voice was only well suited for the "enforcer's" voice. The other male leads in the book would have been better performed by not such a deep, gruff voice as Aiden's, therefore all the male parts should have been performed by one not as deep. It was distracting.

The story was great, but the storyline not so much, or is that vise versa. Again, could've been a 5. Where do I begin. Listening to the, what, + - 12 hours, was like listening to a soap opera on steroids, but I'm still going to listen to book 2. I LITERALLY fell asleep for an ENTIRE HOUR and when I woke up I didn't have to rewind to find out what I missed as I had to do for previous books I listened to. You have 4 Lycans living with a small female human(??) they accidentally ran across. Although she falls in love with 2 of the Lycans, of which it's ok to have more than 1 mate in the Lycan packs, all she does is argue with herself about why she should or shouldn't tell her mates, or the pack, what she is (other than human, of which the READER never gets to know either) and her past. With her it's always, wah, if I do, they'll all hate me, or, wah, if I do, they'll all be killed. In ALMOST EVERY CHAPTER she has the EXACT same argument with herself, all the way up to the very end, in which she FINALLY starts to open about her story to one of her mates, and the book ends with the entire pack having to report in front of the Lycan Council, including the human(??) without her revealing NOTHING. This leaves the listener with a book that's INFURIATINGLY NERVE-WRACKING. I don't know if Erica felt this was a good segway into book 2, but all it did was p*** me off. I only purchased book 2 to see what her demon is, and if she doesn't reveal it in part 1 (1st 6 hours), I WILL be requesting a refund from Audible with a SCATHING review, however, if it is revealed, I will listen to the rest of the book and more than likely purchase book 3 of this trilogy, because I do enjoy this genre of books. Wish me luck, I'm hoping I won't need it. I wonder if my review will be posted.

Too many descriptions ...

It's difficult to follow a plodding story line when the characters spend more time in contemplation than a person in therapy ...

And, the author MUST have signed an agreement to receive payment based upon the number of adjectives used.

Is this author just THAT interested in descriptors, or is this a technique merely to fluff the total word count?

It's difficult to know the answer, given that the story's pace numbs your thought processes.
