Publisher's summary

Monsters are real . . . and that monster is my father.

Ten years ago, I surrendered. I thought I was doing the right thing. But lies and greed have once again destroyed my life, leaving me to deal with the aftermath.

This life has always been a curse, but the world as I know it has changed. Belfast isn't what it used to be. Alliances are broken. Kingdoms have fallen. But those who remain loyal see me as their rightful king.

With secrets unraveled, my need for vengeance grows stronger every day. However, ten years is a long time. People have changed. I have changed. But the one thing that remains untouched is my love for Babydoll—I love her . . . even if she doesn't feel the same.

I will take back what's mine. My kingdom. My name. And my girl.

Every monster is scared of somethin' . . . and that somethin' is me. No more hiding in the shadows because I'm huntin' you . . . Father. Run, wee monsters, run.

Contains mature themes.

3.75 ⭐️

Better than the first. The relationship between Cami and Puck was more tangible in this book. They still didn’t get much time together. I hate stories that don’t allow the main characters to actually develop a real relationship.

Everyone drove me crazy in this one though. Everyone felt that Rory got screwed over when Cami went back to Puck. Seriously?!? He stole his best friend’s girl. Isn’t there a code about that? The only person everyone should have felt bad for was Puck. Rory did him dirty. Rory actually asked Puck why he had to choose Cami. He could have had anyone else. Why did he choose the woman Rory loves. Seriously?!? That’s backwards. The balls on some people!!

I like that this book was almost entirely from Pucks POV. There were some from Cami, but not many. Don’t get that too often. It was refreshing.

Narration was good.

Dark Irish Mafia Must Read

I listened to this book on audible, and I highly recommend it. The Irish accents add to this story and had me slightly obsessed.

I wasn't sure what to expect to come in this story with the way the first left off. But it starts with Punky locked up and shutting himself off from ALL outsiders. Ten years go by before the story continues. Hannah comes to visit him in prison. She is the first visitor that Punky has agreed to see since being incarcerated. The information she presents him with changes the course of everything.

Finding himself on the other side of the bars, Punky's world is very much different from the world he left. A lot has changed, including Babydoll. He still wants her, and he knows things she doesn't. But he doesn't want to ruin the life she has created and the happiness she deserves. He focuses on his mission, but who can he really trust? The cliffhanger on this one had me heartbroken and filled with questions.

Overall, I'm loving this story. My only negative is somewhere in the middle, I start disconnecting from Babydoll. Some of the things she says and does she loses me. I want to love her like I did in book 1. Her character in some ways start to fall flat and never picked back up for me. But I'm invested in this story and it's not enough for me to put it down and not continue.

There is angst before the spice. Some things need to come to light before we can get there. There is one that is chefs kiss after a meeting in an old house. You'll know when you get there.

PLEASE read the trigger warnings. There are several dark elements in this book. I feel the author went darker with this one. Truthfully, it kept me turning the page, because I'm here for the dark.
