About this listen

It's All Your Fault!: 12 Tips for Managing People Who Blame Others for Everything by Bill Eddy explains, in easy-to-understand terminology, behaviors of people who have personality disorders, particularly blaming, irrational, and impulsive behaviors. This is a growing problem (possibly effecting over 25 percent of the US population) and a predictable one that can be managed and keep everyday problems from becoming high conflict disputes.

This audiobook is masterfully read by Brian Arens, and was produced and published by Echo Point Books & Media, an independent bookseller in Brattleboro, Vermont. Audio engineering by Blake Rook.

This book is very helpful in learning how to communicate in a way to reduce, deescalate, and prevent conflict. I think it is great for the average person who is just a little 'hot' sometimes to the person who is set-off from every little perceived insult. I tried some of the techniques with my boyfriend and it changed the atmosphere and mood immediately!! It's like learning how to soften the frayed ends so that people can actually connect. It's impossible to connect if someone is not feeling heard and often in our fights we are fighting against that sense of loss instead of the actual problem. Self preservation can be group preservation as long as everyone feels like they are a valued member of the group. This book teaches you exactly how to do that with stories that give you an easy example t relate to and refer back to during the next emotional situation.

I just wish it wasn't so much about pointing fingers at how a person is inherently disordered rather than just having bad habits or needing to look into human nature. I just don't like labeling people because it can also lead to 'splitting'. I'm really more interested in just saying these are common pitfalls and here are some ways to handle them. But, even so going through some of those labels did help me understand what could be going on behind the scenes, And, I still think this book is one of the best that I have read to help me deal with my high-conflict relationship, or potential narcissist boyfriend. It gives me the tools to completely transform the relationship from one of conflict and power struggles to one of true companionship. I am really happy that I found these skills!!

Everyone should read this book!!!
