Publisher's summary

She dedicated her life to working for the justice system, but when she needed it most, it didn’t work for her.

On the eve of trial, Assistant District Attorney Lainey Abbott gets a disturbing phone call. Her baby sister, Stephanie, who should have been back at her college dorm after visiting for the weekend, never arrived. At first, she isn’t too worried, because she’s a system insider and has plenty of resources available to locate her sister quickly, including Russ Sanders, the police detective she’s been on and off with for years. It’ll take a couple days, tops. They’ll find Steph and give her a piece of their mind for being so irresponsible.

But a year later, Stephanie still hasn’t been found.

And what’s worse, the system Lainey once had so much faith in no longer seems inclined to look. Reeling from the loss, her career and personal life are in freefall, and most days she can’t even bring herself to care.

Until another case surfaces, of a girl who’s gone missing under strikingly similar circumstances to Steph’s....

The Mystery🔥🔥🔥🔥

This read kept me captivated from beginning to the very end. The narrator was new to me and she did a fantastic job. I Iove a good murder mystery and this was right up my alley. The ending threw me for a loop. I was practically clutching my invisible pearls. I didn’t know if I should be angry or sad. Really kind of broke my heart. I definitely can’t wait to get started on the next book in this series.

Great Book!

This was a great story! I can't wait for book 2 to come out. I never would have expected the ending. The narrator was new to me, but she was excellent! I have read the Snowflake series by Ms Forrester and several of her shorts. But this book is definitely one of my favorites!

Great storytelling!!

I am a huge fan of Nia’s. This book steps into a new genre for her and I’m here FOR. IT.! She writes her characters in a frame that paints them as people we would actually know in our lives. This story unfolded perfectly. I was hooked from page one.

Excellent Read

This is a gripping powerful crime novel that will have you on the edge of your seat. Assistant District Attorney Lainey Abbott is devastated by the news of her younger sister missing. After a weekend of spending time with Lainey, Stephanie left Lainey’s apartment to return to college, but she never made it back to Penn State. The news of Stephanie missing sent Lainey into a downward spiral but it didn’t stop this sharp ADA from unraveling details of a complex investigation that led to the discovery of secrets, lies, and betrayal. This story gives a peek inside the justice system and showcases some of its flaws. There is also a little romantic spin although in the form of a complicated relationship between ADA Lainey Abbott and her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Detective Russ Sanders. This is a well-written, suspenseful and captivating story.
