The book is a reference that can be of use to anyone working in JavaScript but it is not a beginner how-to. The book should be seen as a guide for the experienced Web worker, especially those involved in making Web applications.

I would recommend following this book up with "Javascript: The Good Parts" and making sure you fully grok how to use closures to avoid namespace pollution.

While the technical content of this book is sound, it does not work as an audio book.

When listening to a technical audiobook I expect to hear about principles and gain an understanding of the concepts around the technology and/or coding language. I’m not looking for long recitations of code snippets that are hard to understand without breaking down the lines of code with informed description. Short code bits are fine. But line upon line of code with no break to point out details, or a synopsis at the end calling out specific lines in a memorable way make it very had to comprehend. As such I can really recommend this book unless you are going to have the pdf file in front of you to follow along.

Good content, but not for an audio book.
