It will teach you exactly what you need to know about programming in the world's most widely used scripting language in existence today. It will start you at the beginning and allow you to build upon what you've learned along the way.
Learn JavaScript Once, Use it Over and Over Again...
Even though JavaScript is by far the most popular client side programming language in use today, it can and is used on the server side as well. Node.js, Meteor, Wakanda, CouchDB, and MongoDB are just a few examples of where you'll find and be able to use JavaScript on the server side. The time you invest in learning JavaScript can be doubly rewarding as JavaScript keeps moving into more and more areas of computing.
If you're looking to level up your career, JavaScript is an invaluable skill to have.
JavaScript skills are in high demand and they need for people who can program JavaScript will only increase. If you're looking to break into a tech job, what better skill to have on your resume than something that can be used practically anywhere?
Want to work on the "front-end" of websites? Learn JavaScript.
Ready to tackle back-end programming for network intensive web apps? Learn JavaScript.
Want to work on the latest database technologies available today? Then learn JavaScript.
Learn JavaScript the right way - once and for all...
No matter if you plan to use JavaScript on the client side in a web browser, on the server side, or both, you will need to learn the fundamentals of the language. That's what this book will give you. On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. The grid is now under threat from a new source: renewable and variable energy, which puts stress on its logics as much as its components.

Technical knowledge alone isn't enough - increase your software development income by leveling up your soft skills Early in his software developer career, John Sonmez discovered that technical knowledge alone isn't enough to break through to the next income level - developers need "soft skills" like the ability to learn new technologies just in time, communicate clearly with management and consulting clients, negotiate a fair hourly rate, and unite teammates and coworkers in working toward a common goal.

Story
Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

Run a Google search for “black girls” - what will you find? “Big Booty” and other sexually explicit terms are likely to come up as top search terms. But, if you type in “white girls”, the results are radically different. The suggested porn sites and un-moderated discussions about “why black women are so sassy” or “why black women are so angry” presents a disturbing portrait of black womanhood in modern society. In Algorithms of Oppression, Safiya Umoja Noble challenges the idea that search engines like Google offer an equal playing field for all forms of ideas, identities, and activities.

In Glow Kids, Dr. Nicholas Kardaras will examine how technology - more specifically, age-inappropriate screen tech, with all of its glowing ubiquity - has profoundly affected the brains of an entire generation. Brain imaging research is showing that stimulating glowing screens are as dopaminergic (dopamine activating) to the brain’s pleasure center as sex. And a growing mountain of clinical research correlates screen tech with disorders like ADHD, addiction, anxiety, depression, increased aggression, and even psychosis.

Great attempt at teaching programing
What made the experience of listening to JavaScript Programming the most enjoyable?
I'm trying to evaluate books written to teach programing and technical skills to get ideas on how to create my own audio and video tutorials. This is challenging because there is not a lot out there. This is one of the few that I have found so far. I have a couple of suggestions for the author that would make listening easier.
1. Do space not space say space the space word space "space" space between space every space symbol space when space reading space code period space it space makes space it space very space difficult space to space concentrate space on space the space code. The spaces in javascript do not carry any weight so add no information to what is being said. Instead just let the reader know on the outset that spaces are inferred and direct them to a place where than can look at the code if they need to see the exact spacing.
2. When suggesting moving a block of code from an html file to another file, there is no need to repeat the section of code, maybe instead just say "Move all the code in the previous section between the tags to the new file."

this book might be good on paper
But it's worthless in audio. I was expecting more descriptive content. Instead, the narrator actually reads code down to parenthesis anda curly braces.

Don't wast your credits on this book
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This book was not made to be listened to. The reader is just spitting code out loud
which just impossible to follow without actually seeing the code on a screen/page.
Would you ever listen to anything by Preston Prescott again?
Sure. Just not a programming book.
