She’s ready for a second chance

Jessica Cooper married the love of her life right after high school graduation only to have her happily-ever-after dreams burned to cinders the night her husband broke her arm in a fit of rage. Twelve years later Jesse says yes to Garrett’s proposal, convinced it’s finally her turn to have the life and love she’s always longed for, with a man who can be trusted to hold those dreams safe. When Garrett is accused of the unthinkable and her ex-husband turns up on her doorstep, offering apologies and undying love, who should she believe?

The Trap That Compassion Built

Garrett Saxton is a respected, by-the-book high school counselor. Everything changed the night one of his female students showed up after-hours, hysterical, and begging for his help. Unable to send her away, he calls for a chaperone and offers what comfort he can until reinforcements arrive. Now he’s accused of rape and paternity by the student he tried to help and his future with Jesse is ending before it began.

The obstacle course of love

With a manipulative ex-husband who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, career-ending accusations, and the threat of legal action, everything seems to be spiraling out of control. How can Jesse and Garrett overcome the challenges to their happiness and salvage the promise of a life together?

Inspirational Love Story with an Ardent Twist

In “Jesse”, Scrock has written an inspirational love story that will capture your heart and attention after the first 2 sentences. Garrett has recently given Jesse a dazzling diamond ring and reminds her of his ardent love for her with a couple of steamy kisses. This happy moment is soon interrupted but not forgotten after they hear the loud voices of her parents arguing.

In the midst of conflict in both of their lives, God has also given Jesse and Garrett some amazing friends who share their love for God. Srock has thrown several twists and turns into the the story from the return of an ex-husband and and her finance being accused of rape by a student.

You will definitely want to listen to Jesse and Garrett's story to see who she picks and how God guides them in their decisions during some rough circumstances. This book is part of a series and I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series. I give this book 5 stars.

Becky Doughty is the narrator of this book and you will find that she adds an exciting quality to the words as she creates the atmosphere with her voice. I would give Becky 5 stars as well.

Inspirational Romance

Jesse is the fourth book in the inspirational romance series, Sisters by Design, by Sharon Srock. And she has done it again as she gives readers a well-written story about friends who are Christianity in action and know how to support one another through difficult situations.
Srock's characters are strong, likable, and believable, people you would like to have as your own friends. And yet they are not portrayed as perfect but are shown with their foibles and faults as well as their strengths. Not afraid to tackle gritty subjects, the author tactfully and tastefully writes of unwed motherhood, false accusations of paternity, and abuse. The story moves quickly as the author adds a twist or two to the plot and weaves in strong Christian values to bring readers a heartwarming and inspirational read.
I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrator, Becky Doughty, did a great job giving voice to the characters and their story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. A review was not required and the opinions are my own.

Thoroughly enjoyable story.

I enjoyed the audio version of Jesse, book 4 in Sharon Srock’s series Sisters by Design. Jesse is counting the days until she gets married when her abusive ex-husband comes back on the scene claiming to have changed and her fiancé is accused of a rape by a student that came to him for counseling. Jesse has to figure out who to trust. Once again, Sharon Srock delivers a well written story that deals with issues often found in today’s headlines. I love the way that Srock writes friendships and in this installment of Sisters by Design, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t more interaction between the “sisters.” The story is still very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed, it’s just that the “sisters” part of the story didn’t, in my opinion, play AS big of a part as it did in the other books in the series. What I absolutely loved about this book was the way that Jesse questions God. She doesn’t question His existence or His compassion or His will. She doesn’t think that He has abandoned her. Instead, she questions whether she has truly been listening to Him and His plans for her life instead of her own. And when she’s honest with herself and with Him, He answers provides the answers to those questions in a manner that leaves no doubt.

Love the author and narrator

JESSE - I've come to know and love this author through her audio books, which happen to be read by my favorite narrator.

Jesse and Garrett's road to their happily ever after turns out to be bumpy, thanks to both a fist-yielding, misinformed father who believes the lie of his teenager, now pregnant (supposedly by the groom), and an abusive first ex-husband who goes nuts and gets armed.
Choosing to trust the Lord and her second husband-to-be, Jesse is grateful to God for her circle of praying and exercising girlfriends. Thus the way to the altar is paved for the sweet couple.

Sharon Srock does it again

This is the first book of Ms. Srock that I have listened to on audible. I have read many of her books. Great job on the audible version. Will definitely get more of her books on audible.

A great book

I really enjoyed this fourth book in the Sisters by Design series. (You do not have to have read the other three to enjoy this one.) Jesse is trying hard to move on after a rocky start to her adulthood. She is in a good relationship with Garrett and things are looking promising of a future together but things don't always go as planned. Just as it looks like they will take the next step of engagement, both of their worlds are turned upside down as a Garrett has an issue with a student he as counseled and Jesse runs into her ex-husband who is determined to get back together with Jesse.
I enjoyed seeing how they worked through the issues facing them. They both turned to friends and God for guidance. They realized that they could not handle it all on their own and needed help, support, and guidance. I love how the women in the book show that they are human, but still work to help each other out.
I liked the narrator as well and hope to hear more soon.
I received a copy of the book to review, but the review is my own.

Jesse

Sharon Srock has done it again in her fourth installment of her Sisters by Design series. She knows how to write a book that are true to life and Jesse is no different. This is such a great read. I enjoyed the audio version of this book, as well. The narrator did a great performance. I hope to listen to more of Miss Srock's books with the narrator.
Jesse is getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who love stories and characters that they can relate to, as well as, ones that will inspire them.
I received Jesse from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Definite feel good story.

I have read all of Sharon’s books and this one does not disappoint. It has everything needed for a good book; a plot, a heroine, a hero, and of course, the villain. It also shows how anything can be accomplished through faith, love, and good friends to support you. I like forward to her next book. I started this thinking I would listen to a few chapters before sleep and next thing I knew is was 1 am and I still had several chapters to go.

Wonderfully written

Jesse is book four in the Sisters By Design series. One of the things that I love best about Sharon Srock’s books is the way she transports me as a reader into the town of Garfield. I become a friend to the women there, sharing in their misery, victories and everyday life. The greatest parts of her characters are simply the way they do life together. Not perfectly, but in a realistic way that is relatable.

Jesse has found true love but her ex-husband, an abusive and manipulative man, is determined to destroy her happiness. When her fiancé is wrongfully accused of raping a student, Jesse finds herself thrown into a battle of trusting in the man she believes him to be. Worse, unless he can prove his innocence, their wedding and new beginning is placed indefinitely on hold.

I absolutely loved Jesse. Definitely a fantastic read that I’d recommend.
