About this listen

He was someone who belonged on the cover of Sports Illustrated instead of in my small beach town.

A sexy, cocky Australian soccer star named Finn was the last person I expected to be living with for two weeks. He showed up at my brother’s house on his wedding night, hot, drunk, and very much not married. Next thing I knew, we were roommates, spending nights watching TV and getting to know one another.

Those two weeks turned into more than either of us bargained for. He was fresh off a broken heart and I had a boyfriend. I wasn’t supposed to fall for the jilted jock, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways. All good things must come to an end, right?

Except he’s not letting me go without a fight.

I recently found Rebecca Jenshak's series Wildcat Hockey and enjoyed them so much that I grabbed this while it was on sale. I was not disappointed. It's a fun read that I had to put believability aside. But I really liked the characters. Finn and Adele just had a lot to overcome and work through. My heart dropped several times.

Rupert Channing and Muffy Newton are excellent narrators. I love both voices. They are smooth and easy to listen to. On the occasion, the accent was lost/changed. It wasn't bad, just a little distracting. I'd choose to listen to them again!

I have to say that hearing this in audio added to the depth of the story. I absolutely adore Rebecca Jenshak and her words. With Jilted Jock, I adored every moment of this story. Adele has always been one character that had intrigued me from Cocky Bastard and Jenshak does her story justice. I felt the raw emotions through Adele as she tries to navigate finding her footing again. With the narrators, it just gave it so much more with it and I felt completely entranced. Especially with everything thrown at her from Finn. My heart broke for Finn after everything that happened to him as well. No one deserves what was thrown at him. But their push and pull was so magnetic and beautiful. I adored every moment of it. Especially when things implode. It was well thought out and beautifully written with amazing character build. Not just for Adele but for Finn as well. The way they just mesh. Their passion. Absolutely everything. It is a stunning addition to the Cocky Hero Club that needs to be read and heard!

LOVE in audio!

I really enjoyed this story from Rebecca Jenshak and I love the whispersync price that allowed me to listen to this book! It was well narrated overall, although I thought Muffy Newtown's accent for Adele was a little too subtle and inconsistent. However, overall, I enjoyed listening to this story about Adele, Chance's sister (from the prior Hero's Club) and Finn, a soccer star.

I loved Finn. Left at the altar, he was a sweetheart and I loved watching their friendship grow, which felt very organic and natural. I really liked Adele, although I thought she overreacted a bit to a few things which turned me off her a few times but I always came back because those two together were so great. I loved seeing Chance and his family (including Pixie the goat!) again and it was a great spin off for the series. Overall, truly an enjoyable story and a great addition to the Hero Club! (less)

Love these characters!!

I have been listening to these Hero books and thought I had a favorite but I really liked this one and Rupert. Muffy/Erin is a pro so that goes without saying. I loved Finn and Adeles story. I loved the evolution of their attraction and Adele's awareneness of her past yet recognizing she has choices in her future. This is the 2nd book I've listened to narrated by Rupert and I love him. He just made my top 10 list and could move up the more I listen to him. To me he's that good. The narration was different in that you got Adele's POV the first half then Finn narrated his POV the remaining half. It wasn't a problem for me. I've enjoyed the development of the story and characters and Finn's persistence and her brother as her protector. My husband won't appreciate this but I want me a Finn too...lol. 😋

I really liked this story!! 🥰👄💥❤

This is a slow burn love story that should have never happened. I loved this book, it not only is a love story but it is a messy life gets a second chance story. Both Finn and Adele have significant others and when Finn's blows up Adele happens to be the one to help him heal his broken heart but not how you think. She is tough and takes no crap off the pretty boy soccer star and when she is faced with a hard decision she follows her head not her heart and we get to watch and they both grow. I actually teared up a time or two reading this and it's not meant to be sad but it's real and life isn't always easy and love doesn't always come to us in the first few chapters. This is so well written and has all the feels.

Muffy Newton and Rupert Channing narrated this book and did a great job. I enjoyed listening from beginning to end.

4.5 stars rounded up

Rebecca Jenshak has a way with writing Sports romances and this was no different than all her others that I loved. Finn was the perfect, sexy, slightly damaged soccer superstar. And Adele, I loved her character from Cocky Bastard so I’m so happy she got her own storyline here. If wasn’t an easy road to their HEA but Finn’s emails had me swooning hard.

I love how all of these authors have come together for the hero club series.
I have enjoyed every book so far that I listen to and I like that there is a little bit of crossover between characters.

A great story

The hero club books have been hit or miss this one was definitely a hit. A strong yet flawed heroine. An alpha hero who gets it wrong but keeps trying because he’s found, the one. Throw in Chance, Aubrey, CJ, Pixy and Marshmallow and you’ve got a story about discovering what truly matters in life. This one worth the 5 stars.

I generally like Rebecca Jenshak, Muffy Newtown and Rupert Channing, and I really did enjoy the narration, although there were aspects of this story that gave me pause.

Rupert Channing's narration was spot on. He really embodied Finn, and gave him personality, emotion and depth. At first, I was a little bit thrown by Muffy Newton's accent for Adele going in and out until it was explained in the story as a trait of the character, at which point I went from town to impressed by the connection to the character.

As for the story, this was very, well written, but not my preference in a romance novel. The fact that Adele had a boyfriend for the majority of the book, and that she stayed with him even though she was not as in love with him as she wanted to be was annoying. I wished we had gotten more of Finn and Adele as a couple rather the long, long, slow burn with Adele in another relationship. In my ideal world, the book focuses on the relationship between the two main characters, which is what I typically expect from Rebecca Jenshak. It could just be that I have only experienced her more traditional romances. Again, it was very well written, with true character development, plot, emotional growth. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Really enjoyed narration, story was well-written

Loved it! Much more depth than the typical contemporary romance. Some humor elements with just stretches of longing and loneliness till of course the HEA. Now to the narrators, Muffy Newtown’s muddled American/Australian accent confused me at first as I had passing thoughts it was a narrator not paying attention to accents of different characters getting lazy; however, all made sense when the character explained how she had grown up in both countries with the accent reflecting that fact. Kudos to Muffy for achieving that realistic effect. Rupert Channing is a delight to listen to and I hope to hear more of his work. His reading felt real and emotive. Just wonderful work!

Story so much better than the cheesy title & cover
