About this listen

Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s most compelling Roman plays. The plot against Caesar and the infamous assassination scene make for unforgettable listening. Brutus, the true protagonist of the play, is mesmerizing in his psychological state of anguish, forced to choose between the bonds of friendship and his desire for patriotic justice.

Where does Julius Caesar rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the Top 40 overall and in the Top 3 for dramatizations.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Low hanging fruit is Brutus for this question, but his followers were equally intriguing. Marc Antony terribly complex as well.

What does Andrew Buchan and Sean Barrett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amazing production, they and the rest if the cast really out a lot of effort in and it paid off.

Wonderful Adaptation

The actors particularly those playing Marc Anthony and Caesar gave modulated performances so that they were not at a feverish pitch until absolutely necessary. I have always liked this play and will listen to this audible version again

Well played and not over the top

Since almost all the characters are men, I could not know who was speaking until I got a copy of the play and read along. It was a very good dramatization with that help.

Works best if you read along

Excellent story (duh). Fantastic voice acting. Only hangup is the last two or so chapters which are battle scenes that can get a little confusing without actually seeing the actors.

Great for an audio-only play

I listened to this on audio, and the play production was quite good. Although the period language took some getting used to, once I did, I enjoyed it. There was quite a bit of action, and I finally heard the famous "give me your ears" speech.

Very Good Play

This reading has performances all around, but the actor who plays Cassius is really excellent.

This put me right into the action. It was like seeing it performed live on stage. It made me want to read more Shakespeare.

Amazing performance!

Truly wonderful rendition of one of the Bard's most famous works. I was drawn in like a underling and remembered some of best professor's lectures at the same time!

I forgot how great this play is!
