About this listen

More than a mere overview, the audiobook offers listeners a strong grounding in the basic principles of Jung's analytical psychology in addition to illuminating insights.

"Probably the best one-volume English language summary of Jung's thought." (Choice)

"Himself a widely regarded analyst, Stein presents Jung's major theoretical contributions in language as uncomplicated as the subject allows...Aimed at the general reader but sufficiently academic for the specialist, this is an excellent basic book on the subject." (Booklist)

"Writing for the general reader, Stein provides an outline of Jung's basic concepts that is clearly written and indicates some of the distinctions between Jung's thinking and Freud's." (Publishers Weekly)

This narration is torture! The book is great though

I think this book is very well written, Love the book.

But the narrator's voice and the way he reads it was awful.

The Narration isn’t bad

So many reviews are stating the narration is terrible. Disagree strongly. I don’t know what people expect. This isn’t fiction. I found it quite easy to listen to while gardening and cleaning. I understood clearly what he was saying.

Great Content, Rough Narration

The content of this book is incredible. Such a great intro to Jung. But the narration is brutal. I considered trading it back in for a while. The content kept me hooked however. And eventually I was able to (mostly) ignore the reading by the narrator.

Very Informative

I found it to be a hard book to read but I was able to comprehend the subject matter. I will continue reading Car Jung books as they are very much in tune with life as it is. I learned things about myself and others that are close to me through reading this book. Thank You.

Poor narration destroys a good book— again

The book is good I’m sure. But it’s rendered unbearable with this tuneless droning that sounds as though the narrator doesn’t so much as register the meaning of the words he speaks. The point of Audible is that you can hear a book when you’re unable to see and read it yourself. If that’s the whole purpose why is there so little interest in finding people who read well??? Hope I can return it but what a shame! Do better, please.

Murray Stein….

Murray Stein is a great tour guide of Jung. A gifted analyst, he is also a gifted interpreter of Jung who is able to bring Jung’s complex ideas and visions into understandable focus and clarity.

Jung’s Map of the Soul

I became interested in this book because of the band BTS who have a new album series based around Jung’s ideas and psychology. I decided to read this book in order to deeper understand why they chose this subject matter. Now I understand! Jung’s psychology is immensely fascinating! I never thought much of the human mind and thought I knew everything about the ego, the conscious and unconscious, and I didn’t know any of it, apparently! Diving deeper into the unknown ways of the mind and getting to the core of the psyche and finding parallels to myself or people around me was so interesting. I suggest this book to anyone who wants a deeper understanding into their own psyche or just a general interest!

Good book, bad narration

I liked the book. It would be perfect if it had more examples.
But the real challenge was to listen to it, as the narrator was practically shouting the book in a hurry instead of reading it calmly. It was narrated so fast that i could hardly follow it.
