About this listen

Seeing spirits is one thing, but feeling the pain of their death is an experience best left alone. Restless spirits, a ghost dog, and two men connected to the spirit world. What could go wrong? Bran Tanda works at the hospital morgue despite the fact he can see and hear all the spirits that tend to congregate there. He wants to help them, even if they terrify him with their aggressive tactics to get him to acknowledge their existence.
Jordan Amid is Bran’s assistant. He’s reluctant to interact too much with the dead since he can feel all the pain from their death and the confusion they’re left with. But he’s drawn to work there with Bran, and his ghost dog Buddy. Bran and Jordan are thrown into a world where things are changing, and without their help everyone will suffer the dead. Stronger together than separately, they’ll both need to face their fears and find the strength they’ll need to fight the evil forces that threaten them and all of humanity.

Interesting Introduction

This is a very interesting introduction to Bran and Jordan. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next in their series as well as with their connection to all of the other previous ghost hunting series. I enjoyed listening to this one even more than reading it. The narration by Allen Jeffries was perfect for this story.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Together

I have enjoyed this series and was excited to see the latest was released on Audible. Enjoyable to listen to the stories I love and this one was no different. It can add more vision to a scene or how the characters interact.

Bran and Jordan are a sweet pairing, both involved to some degree with the ability to interact with spirits.

Go Buddy! Such a sweet ghost dog and his ability to calm those who newly passed on and those with the ability to see him.

Bran and Jordan

Sometimes you say "The book was better" about movie adaptations. I personally enjoy the movie more if I've read the book. Sorry to say about this audio. The book was better. Mostly.
Allen Jeffries did well with some of the voices, the old lady spirit was pretty good. And Jordan was okay. However, the voice he used for Bran made him sound as he had a stuffed nose.
The audio did give a bit of color to the worldbuilding. It did make me want to reread the book with new eyes. Jeffries does have a soothing voice. Just needed a new tone for Bran.

Loved it

I loved this story. Allen Jeffries' voice really brings this story to life. Bran Tanda can see and hear spirits. He works at a morgue with his assistant Jordan Amid who can feel a spirits pain. They soon find out they are stronger together than apart. They have to face their fears and prepare to fight a evil that will try to destroy humanity.

good prequel

this is a good set up for a series.
it's short and I didn't realize it's a prequel but it was still interesting.

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of either characters voice but everything else about the narration was pretty good.

So good

AUDIBLE REVIEW. This was a really quick listen. It took me roughly an hour to listen to it and the narrator, Allen Jeffries, kept me there. It's cute with an "End Of The World" vibe. Ghost possession, demonic possession, and mommy issues. What's not to like? There is an adorable chemistry between Jordan and Bran and a ghostly familiar in the in the form of a childhood pet. I'm all the way on board never loosing man's best friend and for whatever happens between Jordan and Bran. I loved it! The way I ran to buy the rest of the Spirit Boy series is so comical. I can't wait to get to the bottom of this mystery.

very enjoyable

Mystic Man is about Cody and Aaron. These two are as opposite as can be but some how they still work. I loved the way the guys grew together. I really appreciate how E.J. Russell told this opposites to lovers story. E.J. Russell is an amazing author and I look forward to her next book. Kirt Graves does a wonderful job of narrating this book. He makes the change in characters seamlessly. I can't wait to listen to the next book he does. I would definitely recommend this book.

Dogs are the best, always

It's a good prequel for what looks to be an interesting series about a paranormal war-like situation. It was an interesting, short listen with lots of well thought out details and information. I'm interested in learning more about the Spirit Boys in the continued series.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters based on the narrator's voice though. It felt a bit like they couldn't hold the matching voices for the MCs as the chapter progressed. I had a much harder time deciphering who was talking or thinking by the end of the story.

The story kept me engaged and entertained enough to want to know more when it was done, but I'm not sure I would enjoy listening to the audiobook for this one again.

I received an authorized copy of this story and am volunteering my honest review.
