About this listen

It was almost 4 months later that we got the call that our missing hunter had been found. Deceased. The first words out of the Operations Officer's mouth, after saying Sam was found, were "You are going to kick yourself." A volunteer search and rescue dog handler, Rebekkah has always put duty and responsibility first. She lives by the rules, believing that success means having a plan and not deviating from it. Dreams are things that happen at night and don't ever seem to come true for her. Things in Rebekkah's life are about to change, and she’s not really sure she’s ready for it. With her K-9 partners Ariel and Gus, Rebekkah faces decisions that could jeopardize their lives every time they deploy. As she responds to missing person searches through treacherous terrain, emotional battles and bitter disappointment, she finds that there is a fine line between success and failure; but that the search for life is definitely worth the risk. Sharolyn Sievert, a seasoned K-9 handler herself, takes the reader with her on fictional missions in K-9 SEARCH—One Handler’s Journey, weaving the laughter, fears, faith and tears of a life that isn’t sensational or sexy, and definitely not glamorous, but a heartwarming and genuine reflection of a SAR dog handler and her dogs. I loved the story , but the AI performance was a bit drab. It was hard to catch the excitement because it was so monotone. I much prefer the live reads.

The story was great! I’m learning so much about working dogs

The author told the story so clearly that it felt like I was participating. I became emotionally connected to the people. I was not prepared for the story to end when it did. While several loose threads were tied up, there were hints of new possibilities. The story ended just as the heroine got a new SAR puppy. I want to know the new pup's name and how she did connecting to her new big brothers... I want a nice long sequel, PLEASE!

I f÷elt like I was there with the people in the story.

Love this author. Love K9 rescue books. This one is for you. the whole series actually. Just good read with feel good endings.
however, it is AI voice . But you will get use to it.
I so enjoyed the ending. Read all her books, or have a good listen. I get some of my best multi tasking done this way. Enjoy

Just a really good story!

I both liked and did not like this story. This woman seemed unloveable and perhaps empty.

The strong woman that loves her dogs and her adventures . There seems to be a loneliness in her life.

I was disappointed that you didn't get a real narrator to read this wonderful story. My mind was constantly editing the tense, phrasing and figures of speech that were botched by the VV.

Narration was poor and distracting from story

Did not like the virtual voice. Storyline was ok, but drawn out entirely too much with less K9 story than implied.
