About this listen

People say karma's a... well, you know. Personally, I don't think I'm that bad. It's not like I wanted this job. I wasn't even in my right mind when I accepted the position.

Now, I'm surrounded by crazy coworkers like Lady Luck, who's a bit of a tramp, and Murphy's Law, who's a bumbling oaf. But the worst is Fate. He's got a problem with transfers like myself and I have to see him constantly. It's unavoidable, since we're hunting the same man, my murderer.

A young woman dies in a horrible train wreck. On the afterlife, she becomes Karma. While performing her duties as Karma, she tries to find the murderer who made the train derail.
I absolutely loved this book. It is such a fun concept and the Donna Augustine wrote it well.
Angel Clark did a superb job of reading it.

A bit different than other of it's ilk I've read. Interesting universe. Good few hours. I'll have to continue with the series since there are a lot of unanswered questions.

If you could sum up Karma in three words, what would they be?

No Dull Moments!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Karma! Karma was a great heroine and easy to relate to. She's been thrown a colossal loop and the way her lawyer's mind copes was quite engrossing. Seeing her afterlife through her point of view really helps reader understand the whys and wherefores of her thinking process. I really enjoyed watching Karma develop into a kick-ass character. She could be quite the ass-kicker to those who deserved a comeuppance. Even while she grieves for the life she lost, she applies herself to her new position and sets her eyes to the future in which she hopes to be reborn.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Angel Clark?

Yes.This was the first time I've ever listened to her voice. She delivered a solid performance. Her narration really made me feel the despair, menace and suspense and she delivered the wonderful spots of humor with aplomb. I caught myself laughing out loud in public quite a few times listening. Her guy voices took getting used to as they sounded nasal to me - but as the story riveted my attention, I didn't focus on her characterizations. I confess to squeezing in some extra workouts so I could enjoy some more listening time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

People say karma's a bitch. Personally, I really don't think I'm that bad.

Any additional comments?

The heroine rocks and the supporting characters make for a very interesting cast. The story was original, well-paced and funny with murmurings of a deeper, darker issue. The witty dialogue was highly entertaining! I have trust that the Universe has a multitude of mystery, drama, twists and turns and humor in store for readers in the future installments and I can't wait to delve back in. I already have Jinxed, the second book in this series, on my phone ready to hit play. Let there be no doubt... "You can't escape your fate."

It was very imaginative and held my interest throughout. The narration was difficult to listen to as it didn't flow.

Great story

You wake up and discover you are now "Karma" and you must work with the insufferable person called faith. What could be the problem?

Karma can be described as something that you get based on what you put out. On the other hand Fate, which is also sometimes called as destiny is that will happen inevitably.

So if you make a decision because you are karma why can fate over ride you? Why should you care because as soon as your probation period is over you will get the hell out of here. Why does it bother you that fate is always leaning on something.

What is wrong that I had a life before my after life? Who killed me and why?

Read this one.

Totally Unique

Story was okay. Good idea on the characters and playing of their meanings BUT the narrator made ever MALE in the book sound like a nasal whiner. Fate should of been a masculine character, a man's man, buff, and sexy But the narrator made him a sissy boy.

Although I found certain aspects of the story to be oddly out of place, I enjoyed listening to Karma. The story is creative with (mostly) endearing characters. Angel's narration was the icing on the cake though! I'm looking forward to Jinxed!

Amusing!

I loved this story. I originally though it would be a rip off of the cupidity series but it really was its own. I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It is 50/50 on if this is worth the listen/read. I was wondering if this was written for a specific gender. I found the reading horrible with her "acting" out characters as cheesy. I also found the main character as too whiny and constantly restating the fact that she found the character Fate as unappealing and rude and yet always attracted. When the two characters finally did consummate their relationship I found it disgusting to listen to and hit the fast-forward button. Oh and there was so much build-up tp the main goal of the main character that when it finally came I found myself saying out loud, "Really? That's it? I went through 29 chapters of this dog for this?!" Yes, uneventful, short and you enter into the finish without much warning (sort of like that poorly written sex scene).

Would you recommend Karma to your friends? Why or why not?

Maybe. But again the whining of the character throughout the entire book is a big turn-ff.

Would you be willing to try another one of Angel Clark’s performances?

I would prefer not to if I can avoid it.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes I actually would as I do like the concept of the story. I think written for the screen to make the main character less whiny would really do the story justice and could be interesting to watch.

Interesting story concept, but...

What made the experience of listening to Karma the most enjoyable?

The smart alec comments made it enjoyable.

What other book might you compare Karma to and why?

It reminded me of Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality.Ya gotta read/listen to his series.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was the stabbing of Suit.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Karma's a Bitch, ....but she mellows out with coffee.
