About this listen

Nothing short of an amazing story, Karma is the long-anticipated celebrity memoir from Boy George. The memoir delivers a searingly honest and captivating account of his extraordinary life. Take a front-row seat to the highs and lows of a life lived in the spotlight.

Boy George's compelling storytelling shines a light on his encounters with legendary figures like David Bowie, Prince, and Madonna, providing an intimate peek into the music industry's glittering world. Humor, sarcasm, and signature style are brought to this explosive and honest account of Boy George's life as a child growing up in sixties London and coming out to his Irish Catholic family. Hear his account of his exploration of his sexuality through the hedonism of the seventies (the glam rock and punk rock revolution that birthed Culture Club), his recollections of the heydays of the nineties, and his ultimately embracing the man and artist that he is today.

For those seeking books on self-acceptance and recovery from addiction, Karma stands as an example of the transformative power of embracing one's true self.

Absolutely loved listening to Boy George read his book. He is very charming and witty throughout. It was sad to hear about some of the things he has been through in his life from his own mouth. Things that I have read in articles or online before just hit harder when hearing it straight from George himself. On the other hand I loved hearing stories about his fun, younger days and the start of his career. I’ve been a fan since 1982 (I was 9), but I’m an even bigger fan now! His singing voice has changed since Culture Club to a more mature tone, but it’s still so sweet sounding and I find his music to be a source of comfort. Awesome song writer! Also bonus songs in this book…a nice treat! Great book, great narration and great writing. Highly recommend whether you are a fan or not. You will be a fan after listening to his book if you’re not already ;)

Great funny man, great icon, brutally honest and a true man unto himself. He’s healed and I hope he continues his search for the LORD!

Honest

Time does a lot of things, but it has reignited a lot of nostalgia and endearment to hear this story. While he does repeat parts, his giggle is infectious and his authenticity shines.

Of course, it’s Boy George!

Have always loved Boy George since the 80s and love him even more after hearing his vulnerable and honest story read by him. So happy to hear that he has found peace and determined who he really wants to be. Loved hearing him spill all the tea and own his past mistakes. I love celebrity autobiographies and this was one of my faves. Need to go find his first and read it.

Wonderful story told by a beautiful artist

George’s story is so touching. His sincere self reflection is refreshing. The book is full of humor and I loved hearing George laughing out loud throughout. The addition of music was a real bonus! Thanks for sharing, George.

I’ve loved Boy George since he started as such a revolutionary in the early 80s. Loved hearing about his journey, his humor and choosing to focus on the positive at this era in life

What a life!

Enjoyed the trip down his memory lane. Especially enjoyed hearing his side to the many stories many of which I had only ever read about in the papers.

Doesn’t get much more real.

I hate to say it bc I love him so much but it was a little monotone - his laughs in and out were the best and his overall message is fabulous and I will always love him!!!! I dressed my Ken Dolls up as him and my Barbie’s as Cindy Lauper and in my mind they got married… and I went to school for fashion design bc of him!
