About this listen

Six suns, six blasts in the sky; a seventh one, and the earth will die.

In the isolation of the Himalayas, the snows still fall, but they are tinged with the ash of a nuclear winter; the winds still blow, but they wail with the cries of ghosts. The seventh and final blast is near. As the world heaves its final breaths, the people of the Tibetan plateau—civilization’s final survivors—are haunted by spirits and terrorized by warlords. Though the last of the seven prophesied cataclysms is at hand, young Karma searches for a father who disappeared ten years earlier, presumed dead.

Driven by a yearning to see his father again before the end, and called by an eerie horn unheard by anyone else, Karma forges into the Himalayas and discovers that his father’s disappearance may be linked to a mystical mountain said to connect the physical world with the spirit lands—and a possible way to save their doomed future.

Incredible coming of age story in a fresh setting.

Brandon Boey weaves together the best of Western and Eastern cultural philosophies into a mystical tale of a classic hero’s journey. The audio version feels like you are listening to a shaman tell one of his tribe’s ancient stories as you sit around a camp fire. There is a beautiful otherworldly feel to the entirety of the tale. As Karma goes on his quest to follow in his father’s footsteps he takes the reader on a journey through a post apocalyptic world that has been so ravaged by war and time, that the spiritual world seems to lay over the real world like a blanket. It is a wonderfully fresh story that is familia enough to understand and relate to characters and the world, but new enough to bring excitement and wonder.

Highly recommend reading or listening.

Great new book

What a great read from a new and exciting author. I read or listen to 2-3 books a week. This is the first one that I’ve ever left a review for, it was that good. Great characters and story building. The book was very immersive and descriptive. Mr. Boey let you see what Karma was seeing and what he was feeling. I recommend this book to anyone looking for their next great adventure.

One of the best books I've read in some time

I was completely blown away by Karma of the Sun. It had me engaged for the entire 10 hours, and the ending was one of the most satisfying finishes to a book that I've experienced in some time. Hoping we get more content from the author over the coming years.

Great Listen

I bought a hard copy for the family but ended up also buying the Audible version so I could get to it sooner. It was a great listen—plenty of action and very thoughtful. I found myself thinking about the book throughout the day, both wondering what would happen next in the story and also pondering the issues of life, death, and spirituality that it touches. The spiritual theme is presented in a way that I suspect people from all walks of life could appreciate.

Great post apocalyptic fiction

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. From the voice performance to the story itself. I’m a big fan of post apocalyptic fiction and this one is a winner.

Fulfilling on many levels

Not only was this book very well written, but it was entertaining and fun to read. The plot is unpredictable and interesting, the characters are well developed and the story is thought provoking on many levels. I highly recommend the read for both entertainment and inspiration. I'm going to suggest this to my book group as the book has interesting themes for discussion.

Moving

A novel of the future that inspires hope instead of despair. A refreshing depiction of human nature.

Poetic Language and Spiritual Depth

I loved the beautifully crafted prose and poignant ending. Boey’s poetic, immersive language left a lasting impression and brought an imagined fantasy of the future to life.
