About this listen

Finding work is easy. Staying alive is a little bit harder.

When Russ Wesley finds an unusual artifact in his grandfather’s collection of rare antiquities, the last thing he expects is for it to draw the attention of a ferocious alien from a distant planet. Equally surprising is the adventurous team of intergalactic exterminators dispatched to deal with the alien threat. They’re a little wild, and a little reckless. Worse yet, they’re so impressed with Russ’s marksmanship that they insist he join their squad . . . whether he wants to or not.

Good for what it is

Some of the reviews called it boring and some said the science isn’t correct… well I didn’t find it boring… and the science can be what it wants, it’s fiction after all. The performance of the book was great, but the Nina Narrator could have been left out and just done with one. Outside of that, I feel it was worth the credit I spent on it.

Great book

Really enjoyed this one. A fast, fun book. Scott Brick and Suzanne Elise Freeman are as good as ever and Ash Bishop weaves a great story. Hoping there is a sequel.

A universe of possibilities is wrenched open by this engaging novel.

I found the characters interesting and their delemas handled in creative ways. The best way to write, is to write about what you know. I can't help but think that the author knows little about building construction/ trades work. But I found this more charming then off putting. Because I know so little about firearms.
But the possibilities for developing a series around this first novel as I'm sure will be the case, has me impatient for the next installment. And the possibilities for spin off series's are endless. I can't wait to see what she comes up with.

No pressure...

So much fun!

I don’t think I’ve ever been tempted to describe a book as a “romp” before - this was just such a sweet, silly, story, and so engagingly read! Yes, there are tropes, but enough joy and strangeness to make it interesting. Now I want more!

Quirky and fun

Hard to put into words how I feel about this book. I don’t think I’ve listened to anything quite like it and it’s refreshing to get a completely new plot amongst the sea of stereotypical and predictable books. Absolutely loved it and now I want more. 👏

Space hopping fun

Lost in space, sometimes funny sometimes quirky, a few holes, in the story line, but you could mend it together. It ended with a cliffhanger so I will be waiting for part two or three

Very fun and interesting!

I really enjoyed it! I'm more new to reading/listening to fiction, almost always have pursued non-fiction material to solve/address issues - kind of a diy approach to well, *everything* - I have to *understand* it, whatever "it" may be... So, I feel like my review may seem a bit, oh, mechanical, but it's more because I don't know what to expect from reading for enjoyment to begin with. Bottom line, I definitely plan to to keep my eye out for new fiction from Ash Bishop, and check out many more of the Audible recommendations based on *this* title! It was light, fun - *LOVED* the Applebaum character! Good on ya, Ash Bishop - can't wait for more and would LOVE a sequel!

Undocumented Cowboy

A fun, pop-fiction, framing of the struggles of an undocumented immigrant. Making the hero a transient, blue-collar, gun-enthusiast—effectively a modern cowboy, was a nice touch. A little “me-to” sprinkled in with the perv boss too :-). IDK if this will penetrate the incel audience, but it’s a nice try at soliciting perspective shift. Kudos!

mediocre

the story is not badly crafted (for what it is). the science is SO BAD that it really spoiled immersion.
